Character Phone call

anyone know when Mickey or Goofy make the phone call? I want to register for it now, but I don't want the call to come until closer to our cruise date. What if we are not home, do they leave a message?

I think you set the time. You have to press 1 or something though, so no message.

You get to choose the date and time - it can be any time between now and your cruise date. We scheduled 2 - one about a week ahead and the other the day before. DD still talks about them.

Schedule it for your cell phone if you aren't sure you'll be home. We did one during dinner time on a school night and the other was to my cell phone when we were already in Port Canaveral - we happened to be driving at the time.

We have scheduled several from now till a week later they have always worked just be sure your available at the time u say is what we do

You can even request the call immediately which is what I did as I knew then that I wouldn't miss the call - the call came less than five minutes after pressing confirm.

back the bus up!! you can get character calls for dcl? I knew you could get them for wdw but this is news to me......GREAT news.
so, if you don't mind my stupidity, how do I go about doing this?

You can do it on the DCL website. Each reservation is allowed up to 2 calls. These will be in advance of your cruise, not while you are cruising. You get to choose the character (not sure who is available now, we had Mickey and Goofy, but I forget the 3rd choice), the date and time of the call. There are some restrictions - I think US only and one or two states are not available, but those details are available when you get into that area of the website.

My plan is to sneak a DCL cruise line ring tone on to the wife's cell phone, say the ship horns, then plan the call for when she is on her way home from work to go to her cell. I figure the ship horn ring tone out of nowhere will be a pleasant surprise to her.

Sorry, off topic but I just had to say that this is the coolest idea ever! I used to have the ship horn as my text ringtone but DH made me take it off bc I get a few hundred texts a day. I hope you do it for your wife!

We did this in early May for our son and it didn't say Disney cruise line on the call display. I almost didn't answer but luckily remembered I had arranged the call for that date/time.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone know the number on call display when the character call comes in?

I'm in Canada so it may be different for me but it just had a 1-866 number (no name). I almost didn't answer because I was worried it was a telemarketer and I would miss Mickey! lol

How did you hear about this? We booked this an Aug2013 Med Cruise a few months ago and the DCL reservation agent did not tell me about this.

Go online to the website and sign in... If you don't have a disney account set one up. Very simple. Then go to the option for your plans. it's in there. you put in the time and date you would like them to call. Like previous poster said there is even an option for immediate call. I have the characters call about once a week. It's still fun to see my sons reaction every time Mickey calls!
