Character Performer

No, we find the weird people weird. Especialy those who you hear screaming TIGGER TIGGER!!! half way across the park, and then you see them chasing after them. That is taking it to far.

There's no screaming coming from me, but I will admit that sometimes I hug them. Is that okay?

At some point after I graduate I want to give it a shot at being a character, but I have high standards of wanting to be Snow White or a princess. My current hair color and style could count for an Ariel look alike, ha.

I don't understand what the college CP program is? How does it work? Is it just internships within DisneyWorld? I am a DIS noob so I don't know if I am asking the wrong thread... ?

The CP is a paying internship between Disney and many schools around the US. You can find a lot of info at www.wdwcollegeprogram.com.

I just did the CP this past spring as a very close friend of the puppy, the donkey and the space ranger, among others, and I had such a fabulous time!

I'm actually a seasonal CM now so I can get back down there and "play" when I'm off of school. ;)

Seeing kids so excited (and yes, sometimes they are deathly afraid as well) to see you is just the greatest! And I must say that sometimes the very excited adults can be great fun to play with as well. I absolutely LOVE my job and I cannot wait to get back down there! :thumbsup2

Best of luck to all who audition/are preparing to head down there!

if you were a space ranger then we probably meet from time to time. i spent most of my time at the studios.

Okay so this is my first post ever so I hope it works :goodvibes ...but I will be leaving tomorrow for florida to do the Fall CP.(I live a long way from florida) Any last minute advice for someone in the entertainment role and is just a little bit scared? I am really excited and I can't wait to be there, but I have never done anything like this. And the last time I went to disney was for vaccation with my family. Any Advice? :wave2:

Hi there. Just want to say good luck on your CP. I am currently in Disney on my own CP, until Jan. If you are going to be in entertainment, we may be working together because I am a character attendant.

Thanks so much for replying...Do you like being a character attendant? I honestly don't exactly know what they do, but I have always wondered? And obviously you like the CP since you've done it once already...any good things that I should be in on or know about before I get there? :confused3

Oh I love it! :cloud9: I hope to go seasonal until I can go full-time. The character attendants walk around with the characters and help them out, take pictures for people, ect. And some things to remember are to bring all the correct paperwork, make sure you can arrive as early as possible (this helps to get checked in as quickly as possible), and to only bring what is necessary. There is a Walmart nearby that you can buy everything at. So good luck! :thumbsup2

I'd say the most important thing is to have fun. It is honestly the best job in the world! It may seem difficult and challenging at first (like trying to learn AND then sign autographs with...well, um, limited appendages :teeth: ) but it'll all be alright. I'll admit that the first 20 minutes I spent in costume I had serious doubts that I could do this for 4 whole months...but as it turns out I had the greatest time doing it and I cannot wait to get back down there to work again! So, just have fun and make the most of it! Pick up extra shifts, go to the entertainment workshops they have and don't be afraid to be outgoing in your costume (well, I suppose that's kinda character dependent, but still...). Best of luck!

ps: the character attendents are kind of like our "body guards" in a way...they are very protective of us and they've got our backs. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for your comments on being a character performer; it was really helpful and encouraging! Just reading over this confirms my thoughts that I want to do this program. :cool1:
