Character Palooza

Went to HS for the evening last week and headed back to the Animation Studio where "Character Palooza" is held. Man o man - we hit the motherload this day:

Hook and Queen of Hearts were repeated from the previous day but then the fun really began: Mulan, Mary Poppins and her Penquins, Belle, Genie, Jafar, Minnie and lo & behold Pinnochio and Gepetto. These 2 were a hoot and a half!

They danced and played with DS and then I headed up for a picture and Pinnochio stopped to read my Grumpy shirt and started to laugh uncontrollably. He read it line by line then reached over, grabbed my nose and tried to pull on it - stating that I was a liar and my nose was destined to grow. He "unposed" - walked over to his Dad - grabbed him by his hand and pulled him in front of me. He fixed his glasses, bent down and also read my shirt - shaking his finger at me as I was also a liar. This lasted for almost 2 minutes and was THE highlight of the trip!


Anyone else have any great experienbces to share during CP?

Well that kind of sounds fantastic. Usually don't look forward to the meet and greets but that sounds incredibly entertaining.

That is awesome, those type of interactions is why I wait to see charecters even if my kids won't.

And wow you got a great set of rare charecters the Villians are hard to catch outside of MNSSHP.

We love CP! We've had many great experiences with characters there. The Tweedles are probably my favorite memory from there- I believe it was Tweedle Dee that decided it'd be fun to take me and skip around the entire area- through other meet and greets, spinning me around....fantastic.

We WILL meet Gepetto some day. It's so awesome that you got to meet him!

CP is a Meet N Greet that takes place at HS. here's an excerpt from Kenny the Pirates website:

One of the best character surprises is often referrred to as Character Palooza (Characterpalooza) or the Fantasmic! meet. It takes place in the Animation area where Sorcerer Mickey and the Incredibles are located. It’s the same area that one draws characters as well. Because it is an unpublished meet, there is usually a short wait for some great and often rare characters.

It fully depends on the Fantasmic! schedule for that day. Here’s how it works…

If the first Fantasmic begins before 7:30 pm, there will not be a Character Palooza.
If the first Fantasmic begins at 7:30 pm, there will be one 20 minute sets beginning at 4:45 pm
If the first Fantasmic begins at 8:00 pm, there will be three 20 minute sets beginning at 4:50 pm
If the first Fantasmic begins at 8:30 pm, there will be two 30 minute sets beginning at 4:50 pm
If the first Fantasmic begins at 9:00 pm, there will be four 25 minute sets beginning at 4:50 pm (two groups with two sets each)
When there is no Fantasmic, there will be four 30 minute sets starting at 4:50 pm.

December too.

This is the ONE reason I find myself wanting to give up December as our travel month of choice. It was so much better when Fantasmic wasn't every night. That meant there were some nights with Characterpalooza.

CP is the highlight of our Trip each year. I plan to go twice this year. Last year we saw the Snow Queen, Tweedle Dee & Dum, Pinnochio and Gepetto, Mary Poppins and her Penquins, Pocahontas and Meeko, Goofy and Max & Mr. Smee. Our favorite was Mr. Smee

quick question. when there is no Fantasmic, is it the same characters for each 30 minute set or do they switch??? should I attend all 4 sets to get to see diff. characters?

Fantasmic is scheduled again every night now. That case was for when it wasn't, up until October 2011 or so I believe.

When that was the case, Sets 1 and 3 were the same as were Sets 2 and 4.

that's what we found in January. Fantasmic was down for maintenence so CP had four sets every night.

We were just there 2 weeks ago and got to enjoy CP. A cast member told us about it and we saw some really great characters. The Queen, Jafar, and many others. It was exactly as others have stated, 4:50pm in the Animation Building.

Is this different from the other characters you see in the AoA building? We've gone in before (got a tip to go in thru the back of the Art store and skip a pre-show) and saw many great characters including Sorcerer Mickey and Minnie, the Incredibles etc etc. But I don't recall if it was that time of day we went, I'm thinking it was earlier in the afternoon?
