Character Meets at Frontierland Jamboree

I agree! We had Donald to ourselves for several minutes a few minutes before the Billy Hill show.

Don't forget there's a petting zoo back there too - it was fun to spend a few minutes before heading to the show :)

I don't see the show listed on the events calendar. Is it part of the Bill Hilly show?

My Daughter loved it back there! So laid back and easy. No crowds. We went on 2 different days. My daughter colored and danced with Minnie Mouse. She is still talking about how they communicated by writing each other notes. She sang a song for Minnie too.

We didn't see any rare characters though we spent a lot of time there. We saw Chip and Dale (lots of interaction with them, they stole DD hat and danced with her a long time), Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy. Donald was involved with the Lasso activity with my DD.

We saw billy hill and the hillbillies and also did the Cowboy Roundup which was fun (the audience participates in some dancing activities).

It's nice that it is under an awning and shaded back there!

I'm trying to place the location. Is this where Santa and the Reindeer are during the holidays?

Yes, but way up in back. They have a huge stage for Bill Hill and they have tons of benches for show viewing as well as tables with benches and umbrella's.

Bill Hill starts every show by thanking everyone who came to see them perform and he is happy we all could find him in his 'new' home.

There is also an area for all the kiddos to color, DL supplies are the materials.

DH and I love stopping by to see his show BUT to get a break from the crowds and from the sun as we sit under one of those umbrellas.

we saw Mickey and Minnie together ( in cowboy attire)
then Chip and Dale - who played with a lasso with my DD for about 10 minutes
LiverLips was there and playing up with the older guests seated . it was fun to watch .

there was NO ONE back there .

I was looking on Disney's website and found this..

Cowboy Roundup Hoedown

Have a hankering for a good, old fashioned hoedown? Happening twice a day, Monday through Friday, is the Cowboy Roundup hoedown with Disney Characters in their Western wear. Tap your toes to terrific music and kick up your heels. Match steps with Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Chip 'n Dale — and from time to time, classic favorites like Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow, Clara Cluck or those silly Country Bears might even stop by!

does anyone know what "2 times" during the day this hoedown happens?

We went to the last showing of the Billy Hill and the Hillbillies on Tuesday last week - what a treat!

We just went for the show (which was good) and some characters were out walking around during the show (mostly the bears)

Donald and Goofy were there (no lines), and when they left the castmember said to stick around because some more "friends" would be there in a few minutes.

Seriously - there were like 8 people besides our group of 8 that were in that area.

Mickey, Minnie (doing photos together) came out, Donald came back, as did Chip and Dale and Big Al!

We got so many pictures with them! Donald was playing hide and seek in the bushes with the little kids (hiding behind a branch about an inch thick :rotfl:)

What a treat!!!!

It is the new location for Billy Hill... There are several shows a day (none in the Golden Horseshoe anymore). Donald was just hanging out ten minutes before the first show. Other characters came in before, during, and after. It's a little out of the way but worth it!

This is the first I have heard of this (Been away for a while!) So Billy Hill is no longer in the Golden Horseshoe. Is anything there now? And will they move everything at Christmas time to make room for Santa?

Good question. Three weeks ago in the Golden Horseshoe there were only signs for Billy Hill announcing the new venue... I didn't check if the restaurant was still there. Billy made jokes at the new place that they liked performing where it didn't smell like chili and no one was yelling out numbers :). (As in "#15, your order is up!!")

Can you carry food over from a nearby restaurant and eat while you watch the show?

What time is better for more character interaction / less crowds....first show of the day or last?

You could definitely bring food from wherever, although there are no tables (just chairs in rows and they're connected). I can't speak to all the shows, but at the first show we had the characters pretty much to ourselves (and it was late June).

Hmmm this post is incorrect!

There are no chairs. It is all benches. The benches probably seat 4 or 5 across. None of the benches are connected to other benches.

Beyond the benches as you FIRST walk in to the "Roundup" you will see the picnic tables with umbrellas attached! There are maybe 10 picnic tables! (We just all sat at one.)

Then you will see all the benches that are close to the Stage!

Again none are attached! You could easily move them around if you want!

There is also an area for kiddos to color that has little tables and benches for them.

As far as "bringing in food" I have no clue if that is allowed! Having been to this "new" area numerous times now I can tell you I have never seen anyone bring food in; not that it isn't allowed. Ask the CM's that are there if you can!

Also there is a pin cart and pin trading! And there is a soft drink cart!

Finally, you will see tons of characters!

Oh one more thing......Billy and the Hillbillies show here is even better and even funnier than I ever remember at TGH! You will want to see the show over and over again!

HTH!!!! :thumbsup2

Oh I also wanted to clarify a post(er) that stated they only do two shows....that's incorrect.....they do at least 5 shows a day!

When we were there 2 weeks ago, it was a combination of benches and chairs. I'm certain because I had pulled two benches into the shade for us, and my sister went and grabbed a chair from a little closer up because her back was bothering her.

I saw they are doing 4 shows the day I go but I figured the first one or the last one is the least busy. In the times you went when is the best time to go?

We were there just last week and I highly recommend stopping by. We saw Mickey leaving as we got there, but he came by and waved to us before going. We had maybe a five minute wait for a photo with Donald Duck. Then my DD got to color with Chip, Dale, and Donald Duck. Got some great video! Not a lot of folks seem to make it out to the area so it wasn't crowded. We went sometime early afternoon when there was no show.

When I was there in July (several times) there were newer chairs that were attached together to form a row. So it's like a bench but there were back to them. I think there were also some traditional benches but i can't remember for sure. There were definitely a couple of picnic tables in the back. There are also smaller tables with benches for the kids to sit at and color with characters.
