character meals

hello everyone who has helped with my previous thread re flights and booking a villa

we have got them both sorted now

can anyone tell me what happens at a character meal especially the Princess ones and the chef Mickey one Grandaughters are 6 and 2

do the characters actually sit and have a meal with you obviously not all of them can - but the princesses ?

we went to the crystal palace and Winnie he pooh tigger piglet etc came round and were just followed around by very excited children

hubby and I were unaware that it was a character meal we'd been there in the past when it was a counter service restaurant ( a very good one too) and hadn't realised that it had changed do the other character meals follow the same format

we haven't been at any of the princess breakfasts so i can't help you there..
we've been to several of the regular character breakfasts and they were all pretty much like the one at the chrystal palace...you sit at your table and eat and the characters come by to your table, one by one and stay for just long enough to sign your autograph book and take a picture with you...
maybe the princess breakfasts are different...i'd be interested in hearing about it as well..

We did the breakfast at Chef Mickey last Oct. DS was 10.
We had a early sitting but the resturant was still very busy( got diretcted straight to the table and didn't have time to get into the photo line).
The charter's did walk round all the table and interact with the children( giving lots of opportunities for the adults to take pictures).
The breakfast was a buffet,(good quality of food and mickey shaped waffles) but drinks were served at the table.
One of the best bits was the fact that we had the chance to see another resort and got to ride the monorail from the hotel( and got to sit in the front with the driver-great).
I think my son was slighly too old to get maximum enjoyment out of it( looked v embassaed when the charter came over!) but the younger children did love it.

We always do at least one character breakfast. Our DD8 loves them! We have done Chef Mickeys, Cape May Cafe and the Princess Sotry book at Norway in Epcot. At all of them, the characters walk round the restaurent and interact with the chidlren (adults too if you're so minded!!!). The Princess Storybook is a table served skillet with hot breakfast food and is delicious. They will re-fill it as much as you want. The other two are buffet with drinks served to the table. We fould them all good value for money- nice food and lots of interaction with the characters - photos etc.

thankyou for this is ther not a character meal in the form of a barbecue where the kids actually help to prepare the food or have I read something and completely misunderstood ?

i wonder if you're referring to the campfire at Fort Wilderness where you can roast your own marshmallows.......and make summores...
i think Chip and Dale are at the campfire...
You don't make reservations (and if you don't eat anything, it's free), but the campfire i think is only for disney resort guests (maybe only for fort wilderness/wilderness lodge guests)....
it's followed by a free screening of a disney movie outdoors....also only for resort guests i think...
