Character meals

Are the character meals in Tokyo similar to those we have experienced at WDW and DL. Even though the kids are older we still enjoy the character meals, can any of you incredibly helpful fellow Disers give us a little insight. Again, thank you all for helping us with what will be the biggest vacation we have taken so far. (We have not traveled outside the US before this)

Very similar - if you can get in.

Some require reservations 30 days in advance by phone, some require staying on site, some are reservations on a Japanese language website, and some are first come, first serve. Which one are you looking at?

Haven't looked yet, just wanted to know if they were available before I killed myself looking for something that may or may not exist. Thanks for the help
