I've been hearing all about them but don't really know what it means.

Is it basically just a sit down dining where a Disney character will visit you during your meal?

Where can I find more information on this and the pricing, etc.?

Yes. Almost all of them are buffet or family style (all but CRT off the top of my head). Each restaurant has a set of characters that will make rounds throughout the restaurant and visit you at your table for pictures and autographs.

On the Disney website (which is whacky right now) you can filter the restaurants to only show character dining. It will tell you the characters there. You can see menus and pricing on allears.net for specific restaurants.

Allears may have descriptions as well.

As the previous poster said, many of the characters meals are buffet/family style. CRT is a pre-fixe, Akershus is partial buffet (appetizers), plated (entree), and family style (dessert).

There are character meals covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some restaurants are character meals all the times, others are only character for one or two meals.

They are a good chance to see characters and get photos/autographs, but the visits are brief.

The prices vary by meal and location. Allears.net is a good source of pricing (I usually add 5% to 10% to the price listed on Allears.net to cover any price increase that might have happened lately).
