Character meals

How long do character meals typically take? We are trying to decide if DDP is for us, and how many character meals we will be doing (which is in another post). I don't mind taking a break for an hour and fifteen or an hour and a half for a character meal, but I really don't want to spend 2 hours away from the parks nearly each day.

I usually figure on an hour and a half for the meal, but depending on where you are going, you need to factor in travel time if it's at a resort etc., so it can add up.

I love character meals, but we are cutting back on these this year because it does take away from touring time. My DH complained that he felt like he was spending half his time in restaurants! So this year we will do three, one of which will just be DD6 and I while DH and DS16 do a tour.

It takes about an hour for all of the characters to get around, sometimes a little longer. I usually plan on around 75 minutes for the character dinning times.

Unless you are sure you are in the park where your meal is or nearby it can really change the meal time. If you are staying in WL and going to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and then to DHS... you get my drift. Also factor in the time between checking in and being seated - can be 5 minutes to 20 minutes and cashing out. For this reason we limited our TS meals for our next trip.
