Character Meals--Reorganize!

I agree that they need to do some "re-organizing" of the character meals. Back in the day (WAY BACK), they had a meal in DHS that was Aladin, Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Genie, and Jasmine. That seemed more "boy-like" to me. Plus it was a little variety, I feel alot of the meals now all offer either princesses or the same characters in different "outfits" (like Minnie in a Safari outfit or Beach outfit)....

Monsters, Inc. Toy Story. Cars. Aladin. Chicken Little. Tarzan. The Incredibles. There are soooo many boy themed Disney movies they could add with character meals! I have an 8 yr. old daughter and she's mostly out of her princess stage. I think our trip will rekindle some of her interest in princesses; however, if they had a Narnia character meal she would absolutely love that!

I think the princess thing is currently their bread and butter in the non-pixar movies/dvd's which is why they push it so much with the meals/meet n greets. Their next non-pixar movie is another "princess" movie (the princess and the frog).

I have 3 boys :dance3: and they only thing the middle one asked for was to eat with Buzz. Ack! :sad2: Try explaining to a little boy that sorry they don't have a meal that will appeal to you just princesses or mickey or pooh (who really doesn't appeal to all that many boys over 4). Although maybe O'hana with Stitch is supposed to be the meal for boys? But Lilo kinda puts it back in the girl side of things.:rolleyes1

They do have several pirate "cruises" leaving from different ressorts. They go on a quest of treasure hunt of some sort, eat lunch and ride the boat around the lake. I think it's around 30 per kid. I know one leaves from GF, but there is a couple others as well. It's for ages 4-11 I believe. I am thinking if we go next year, I may have DD try it out. (this year she is doing the Wonderland tea party)

I think they should reorganize the character meals. Why do we have TWO princess meals? I think they should have the princesses at one, and a "Neverland" meal at the other (Cap Hook, Smee, Peter, Wendy, Tink).

In addition, instead of so many meals with some variation of the fab 5...one meal should be Pixar-type characters (Mr & Mrs. Incredible, Monsters, Inc, Ratatouille, Meet the Robinsons, Bolt, etc.) and I DEFINITELY think we need one Pirate meal...Jack & gang...eat on trenchers and drink from goblets...learn "pirate speak" , etc. Aaaaarrrggghhhh!

Boy, I'd spend a million dollars on character meals if they'd make them each different like that.

I agree 100%. No two character meals should have the same characters. I love the pixar meal idea, that would be fun. The Neverland meal is another good idea, and I love the idea of a POTC meal:)

I am so happy to read this post. I have been so frustrated with Disney for this very reason. There are really 3 princess meals if you count 1900. When it comes to what is good for boys, it is always suggested CM. CM is fine and all and who doesn't love to see Mickey and the gang in Disney, but it is just not the same. The girls get to go and dress up like princesses and really pretend to be a princess for the evening, but the boys get nothing. My son would love to dress as a pirate and pretend to be a pirate along with the characters. The Neverland idea is great too. They could dress as a pirate or peter pan or even just pretend to be one of the lost boys. I am always amazed that Disney has failed at this for so long and I think it is even more ridiculous when they add things like pixie hollow, making that whole character meet and greet tent fairies and princesses.

:worship: :worship: :worship:

I totally agree with this. I have been trying to find some really fun things for my son to do besides the parks and everything seems geared to little girls. CRT, 1900 Park Fare, BBB, etc,

It's not fair! :lmao: :lmao: I will never have another child and I feel that boys get really ripped off. Little girls get to dress like princesses. What do boys get? I have been so tempted to have a price charming costume made for my son just so that I can take him to CRT. I know all the little girls will be dressed up. I can't tell you what my DH said when I told him.......it was just a thought.....

I think alot of parents, including myself, would pay big buck to have their little boys have the same fun opporuntities that little girls have. Disney is really missing the mark on this one. It's too bad because it could be real moneymaker for the them.

I love everyone's ideas! Although my two boys will go with me to the princess meals they would prefer pirates or other ones.

These ideas to have character meals to attract the boys and their parents is a great idea and one that Disney really shouldn't turn their nose up at. There is a market and it isn't being filled. Hard to imagine that someone hasn't thought of this over at Disney since it would be a really money maker. Very unusual for Disney to miss a money maker! Not to mention the pleasure it would bring to the children and parents.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a pirate themed or a pixar themed character dinner. We have 2 daughters ages 5 and 3 and a son who is 7. We have been going to disney every year for the last 4 yrs and our son has had to sit through countless princess dinners. Not saying he puts up a fuss or anything but I would LOVE to see something on the opposite side of the tracks!!! Boy if they opened a restaurant like this I bet it would be harder to get into than CRT:rotfl2:

Heres to hoping!!!:wizard:

Pixar all the way! That would be so great!
I haven't done all that many character meals but I'm already pretty tired of the same characters!
