DS6 is not overly impressed with Mickey and friends, or Pooh and the gang ... princesses are definitely out. Why are there no meals with more "boy" characters ---- buzz, woody, mike and sulley, etc ... ?? :confused3 :confused3

The first test for a boys character lunch was today,Mother's day. You will probably need to wait until later tonight or tomorrow for any kind of reviews. If Disney did decide to go ahead and start booking them regularly, I'm sure it would be a few months or so before it would become official. Having two small boys, I would welcome this alot!! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear! Traveling in Oct with my parents, my sis and her two boys (will be 4 & 2). She would be thrilled! I think even DD7 would welcome a change from all princesses/all the time.

WOW this is great. ive been trying to figure out which character meal to do with my DS 5 and 3. they did crystal palace last yr and have no interest in it again. too babyish they say. now i was thinknig of chef micky which I love but again they dont have any strong interest in those characters. they love buzz and woody and mike and sully and power rangers. where was this character meal tested? they need one at MGM.
Hopefully it went well and will be up and running in august :cool1:

for our "boy's character meal" we are planning to see buzz and woody about the time we eat at pizza planet. I know it isnt the same and the place well we were just happy to sit down in a quiet corner somewhere it was a terrible day so I dont really remember what the pizza tasted like but must not have been too bad.....I hope. Of course we can always let the kids eat and eat somewhere else lol. please please please let them just keep having the boys meal....right now we are going in one week.

Just got back yesterday. We went to Mother's Day Brunch on Saturday at Epcot - BY FAR our favorite meal!!!!! I almost canceled this one, but kept it, and I'm sure glad I did. And our timing could not have been better.

12:15 reservation (Yes, reservation, not PS)

Fairy Godmother greeted us outside. When we entered the pavillion, Prince Eric, Prince Charming and Hercules were wandering around, talking and doing autographs/pictures with everyone. It was kind of weird - and great - at the same time. Usually there are lines for meeting the characters, but they were just walking around chatting! This was all in the entry area, before getting seated.

Then Beast, Peter Pan, Aladdin and Mickey came out. When they came out, definite lines were formed to see them. Not that these lines were long, though. The other 4 characters "dissappeared" and we never saw them again.

We went in for the brunch - the best food we had at WDW. The atmosphere was SO calm, relaxing, wonderful.

When we left, Beast, Peter Pan, Mickey and Aladdin were still there.

I have no idea how it went sunday (Mother's Day). I'm sure it was great. Do not pass up this opportunity if you are ever there on Mother's Day. I wonder if they have something for Father's Day?...

Thank you so much, mepperson, for the review!! I hope they offer it regularly soon!! :teeth:

hmmm....

Beast, Peter Pan, Mickey and Aladdin are not really the characters DS is interested in! Princes? If that's the character meal for boys we'll skip it. Can anyone say BUZZ! Take a look a the merchandise in the stores for boys --- I don't see a lot of boys with Beast and Peter Pan shirts or pajamas.

I really hope they make this a permanent thing. My DS5 is a huge Peter Pan fan, and the chance to eat with him would make the trip. We're doing Chef Mickey's and LTT this trip because he's past his Pooh years and the others are "too girlie". I would love to be able to tak him to this next year when we go....please keep it around Disney :flower:

I tried to get the menu from Allears, but now cannot find it anymore. Anyway, I got one of the menus at the lunch, so here is what we had:

Breakfast Breads & Pastries:
zucchini & banana nut breads
fresh brioche rolls
assorted doughnuts
miniature chocolate & butter croissants

freshly baked apple pie

giant homemade cookies

The atmosphere was beautiful, peaceful.

This was NOT a regular character-type meal. The heros were in the lobby waiting area - they did not come to any tables. You only mingled with them before or after your meal. I actually liked that because you could get it done, and not have to stop eating every 5 minutes to get the autographs/photos, or worry about being away from your table! GREAT!!!!

Of course, we really hit the lucky time, getting to see 8 characters instead of 4: Fairy Godmother, Prince Charming, Prince Eric, Hercules, then Mickey, Aladdin, Peter Pan and Beast. Besides Beast (because he could not talk or sign autographs), they each spend quite a bit of time with each person - especially Peter Pan - he really liked to talk. They were all very sweet with the kids.

I kinda agree with justcruzin- princes? DS4 would not care one thing about seeing the princes. He didn't care to see them our last trip- he was 3. He would barely look at the princesses at CRT- his older sister 'is' a princess so he really gets sick of seeing the movies and everything. He would probably like to see Peter Pan OK- but not enough for a meal. Beast would be OK too- never seen him in the parks- missed him in France last trip- but DS could be afraid of him, he is large. DS would love Woody and Buzz (I realize their costuems would make a character meal difficult), Mr. Incredible and Frozone, Stitch, Power Rangers (I know, I don't love them either, but if they are doing meet and greets in the parks, I think they'd pack them in at a character meal!). Don't get me wrong, I'm sooo glad they are considering a boys' character meal, but I'm a little disappointed in the characters. It'll be interesting to watch this progress if they make it permanent. I hope it's at MGM- Epcot already has the princess meal and Garden Grill- MGM needs a character meal!!! The old one at H&V was great! Thanks for the quick reports on the meal- I'll be interested to see if Disney pulls this off..

I'd love to see a character meal for boys. My little guy loves Buzz, Woody, Peter Pan, Mr. Incredible, Frozone, Hercules, Alladin, & Captain Hook. That would be fun! I hope a "Hero" meal will become permanent.

Was this a one time deal then? I am taking DS in December for his 5th birthday and would love to do a BOYS character meal! He loves Buzz, Woody, Sulley, Mike, Incredibles, etc.

Where at Epcot was this at? I will have to keep my eye on this board between now and our trip in December.

LOL! We are doing a princess breakfast since we will also have an 8 year old little girl who is so looking forward to her first WDW trip and meeting princesses! I am thinking the Epcot breakfast instead of the castle.

I was at the Sunday mothers day brunch. Although the meal was wonderful I was very disapointed in the characters for the "boys breakfast". All they had was Beast, Peter Pan, Aladdin and Mickey . I have 2 boys and if they were asked I know their reply would have been Power Rangers,Buzz Lightyear and the Incredables. Now that would be a boys breakfast. I feel the characters that were their are still geared towards girls or little boys.

So has anyone heard if and more importantly when this will be a real deal??? We leave in less than 4 weeks and my son would love this!!!!!! :bounce:

Sounds like Disney is listening to us, but keep listening Disney and make the characters ones the boys want to see. :cool1:

What a coincidence...just today I was complaining that Disney has no "boy" character meals. Since I'm the mom of THREE boys, we really, REALLY want a Toy Story or The Incredibles character meal. Gee, I'd even pay double!

What's Disney waiting for????

Come on guys...give us Toy Story! Or Monsters Inc or A Bug's Life or The Incredibles. Need I go on? I love the Princess meals...and this June we are traveling with a couple of girl cousins so my boys will have to grin and bear it...but it's NOT FAIR!

Whew, I feel better after that lil' vent. :)
