Trying to decide if my scouts will enjoy going to a character meal. My 10 year old daughter is all for it, but my almost 12 year old says no way! Most of the girls have never been before. I was thinking we could go to Chef Mickey's for a 11am ish breakfast to get us through most of the day. So for me, it is more about eating a big meal. But, I don't want them to be bored. Thoughts?

I would strongly encourage first-timers of any age to try a character meal; it's part of the overall experience.

I don't think I would pick CM for tween girls, though. I'd recommend EITHER dinner at 1900PF (because the StepSisters can play wonderfully off tween girl snarkiness, and they'll all privately swoon over Prince Charming) OR a meal at Crystal Palace. And it sounds like lunch at CP would best meet your goal of a large, filling meal that will carry them through the day.

I would pick somewhere that has it's own theme aside from the Characters.

I know my Cadettes would be into something like Ohana's B-fast because it's Hawaiian themed asside from the characters. aka it's cool to go there if there are characters or not.

Other places I know they would like would be 1900, Cape May, Askerhaus, & Tusker House. Obviously I wouldn't think my Cadettes would be interested in something like Play n' Dine.

Idk about CP or CM, they kinda just seem like regular buffet resturants with characters present compared to my other top choices.

Lemme know what they pick :)

We are doing 2 character meals in our trip - one is Crystal Palace since my 11 year old DD still loves Winnie the Pooh, and the other is Cape May breakfast, mostly because we are staying in the BC!

I'm looking forward to them more than the kids, as is the case with everything. :lmao:

Agreed on 1900PF- I think it would be a better choice for that age group.

Another vote for 1900 PF -- I went with my mom (I was in college!) and we had a great time! Mary Poppins gave us lessons in manners (not that we needed them...) and the atmosphere was a little more "mature" than Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace.

Plus, it might be fun to then take the ferry or monorail to the MK after breakfast!

+1 to 1900 Park Fair - the Step Sisters are HILARIOUS. It doesn't feel like your usual character meal, but it's a lot of fun :) It's one of my favorites!

I took my niece when she was 11. We did a number of character meals (while it was her 2nd trip, she was 3 the first time and didn't really remember much). We did 1900 Park Fare for breakfast and dinner, O'Hana for breakfast, Chef Mickey's for dinner, Crystal Palace for lunch and Garden Grill for dinner. She enjoyed them all, but her favorites were definitely 1900 Park Fare, both breakfast and dinner.

My kids (DD 15 and DD12) really like the 'Ohana breakfast--it's not too girly and Stitch is a riot. PLUS, Mickey Mouse is there, too! The breakfast is served to you, all you can eat, family style. That might be a nice feature when traveling with a lot of girls.
