This may be a really stupid question, but I'm wondering do many adults do the character meals? I made a reservation for dinner at Crystal Palace, as I love the characters of Pooh, but I am really hoping I'm not going to look like an idiot, since I have no kids with me. Also, made PS for Marakesh and 50s Prime Time. I hope these are all good choices, since this is only my 2nd time to Disney, I feel like I'm still an amature at all this!

Disney is a place for people of all ages. Dont feel silly. I think its great! Go have fun. I mean, after all thats what youre there for isnt it?

During our breakfast at Chef Mickey's we saw a number of tables without kids. Go and have a ball....WDW is for all those with a child's sense of wonder, not just those with ages to match!

the crystal palace is a great place to do the character meal without kids, we did a character breakfast at grand floridian, and it was fun. I wouldn't probably do it again, but would definately do crystal palace again.without kids

DH & I used to do character meals all the time before DS was born. Dinning with the characters is great with or without kids. You just have to be into it. Some people go & sit there & dont want to be bothered with the characters. I never understood that.

We would always engage with the characters & have so much fun.

First ever WDW trip was April 2004-Mom(52), me(31), and sister(18). We did Crystal Palace and got a fair number of character pictures. Second trip(booked 2 days after getting home from first), same three plus Grandma(75) in December 2004. MVMCP, Garden Grill, Chef Mickey's and numerous character meets and pictures. Grandma's favorite meal out of our PS sit downs at Garden Grill, Chef Mickey's, Mama Melrose(for Fantasmic package), and Planet Hollywood was the Chef Mickey character breakfast. It was also really neat to see how many 'kisses' Grandma got from the characters. One must do priority seating for our June trip will be Crystal Palace for breakfast with the Hundred Acre Woods crew although we also want to try Boma and Wolfgang Puck Cafe. So characters and adults do go together at the World and you don't feel foolish doing it. I am actually planning on going Trick or treating for the first time in many years this year at the MNSSHP because I won't feel like an idiot dressing up.

I wondered the same thing before my first character meal.I went to the Crystal Palace BY MYSELF and never felt the least bit uncomfortable. You can interact as little or as much with the characters as you want.I have also been to the Garden Grill character meal and have stood in line all by myself to get character autographs for my niece back home.I never felt "awkward" doing any of this.Believe me,this is done ALL OF THE TIME at WDW.It is VERY common.WDW is a very unique and happy place. :D

You will not look like an idiot. DH and I did the character breakfest three times during our honeymoon at the Crystal Palace and Donald's Breafestsaurus. We had a great time.

Just wanted to add, you will LOVE Marakesh. My DH and I went there before we were married and it was AWSOME! Very cool atmosphere. They even had belly dancers. I felt like I was IN Morocco. have yourself a a blast!

I'm so glad to hear all these wonderful replies! I never questioned the character meal until yesterday when I was on the phone with Disney looking into hotels. I have my reservations already, 4 nights at the Crowne Plaza Universal and then 2 nights at the Dolphin, but I wanted to see what might be available for my entire stay on property. The reservations person kept asking over and over if I was bringing any kids and I said no, she kept saying Oh Disney really is for kids, you need to bring kids with you. I was pretty stunned with this actually. Granted, I've only been to Disney once, but I loved it and I'm 35! So I guess it just goes to show, don't listen to everything you hear.
