Since I am probably going to have the DP for me and my 11 year old son, we would like to do a few character meals. Which meal is the least restrictive on the rest of the day? I am thinking breakfast and just going as early as possible. That way we could spend the rest of the day at the parks and have our CS meal there, maybe sharing at both lunch and dinner to maximize the credits. The only negative is if we will be getting our money's worth with the breakfasts, since they are cheaper. I am also not impressed with the dinner menus for my son. He is more of a chicken nugget, burger type of kid.

Also, if you have a boy this age, what would be the best character meal to try? I am thinking Chef Mickey and Ohana, and maybe Donald's Breakfastosaurus. Can you do two of the same?

Thanks for the help. Its our first time with the dining plan and we have never done the character meals.

We've done both character breakfasts (PSB, Donald's Breakfastaurus, Crystal Palace) and dinners (Chef Mickey's, Liberty Tree Tavern, Garden Grill, Crystal Palace) and prefer dinners. We enjoyed the breakfasts, but they seemed to eat up too much park time when it's usually the least crowded. Even with having ADR's before the park openings, we were still there a good hour to 1 1/2 hours at each and didn't get out until after 10:00. We found with doing the breakfasts, we were so full we didn't eat again until dinner. Dinners also take a good hour or more, but by that time of the day we are usually ready for a break and recharging. Our 4 and 8 year olds have always been able to get chicken nuggets, mac-n-cheese, pizza, etc. at buffets. They loved Liberty Tree Tavern's ham and turkey too. Their favorite character meal is the Garden Grill followed by Liberty Tree Tavern and then Crystal Palace.

IMHO, I feel that breakfast takes away the opportunity to arrive early at the parks, particularly if you are visiting at a busy time of year. I would recommend Chef Mickey's for dinner. I would also suggest the character dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern. Your son should enjoy both. Have a great time. :)

I have three kids (11G, 8B, 6G). We have done chacter meals at 1900 Park Fare, Donalds Breakfastauras, Princess breakfast in Norway, Cinderella's Castle, Liberty tree tavern and the Garden Grill at Epcot.(Can you tell Mom & Dad don't like to wait on line for autographs in the parks?)

My kids always have a list of mandatory chacter meals. They include Chef Mickey's, The Garden Grill and 1900 Park Fare. The Garden Grill is nice because it is served family style instead of having to serve yourself buffet style. We have done those three for both lunch and dinner. I personally like to have a nice dinner after a long day at the parks. It's not any fun to go on thrill rides after you have eaten a big breakfast!!!!

hope this helps
