We just returned from a fantastic week in Disneyland and had two wonderful character meals.

Ariel's Grotto
Our lunch at Ariel's Grotto was great. We had an 11:30 reservation and didn't wait long to be called downstairs to meet Ariel. My two girls, 6 and 2, loved meeting Ariel and getting her autograph. She signed "Love and fishes, Ariel" which my oldest thought was really cute.

Once we were at our table Prince Charming wandered around singing (afraid he might need to find a different day job lol). The girls were given colouring booklets, crayons, and make it yourself crowns with plenty of stickers to decorate them with. Then the princesses were announced one by one and visited each table. The girls got to chat with them briefly, get an autograph, and picture. We saw Cinderella, Belle, Princess Aurora, and Snow White.

The food was fantastic. We started with a basket of sourdough bread and 3 spreads. Next came the appetizer tower. I thought the salad was very good and there was a nice selection of other things to nibble on. After the appetizers our entrees arrived. Half our party had the tri tip and the other half the herb crusted chicken. I can't say enough about the garlic roasted mashed potatoes...oh my word, I could have eaten a whole pot of them! My oldest had the chicken skewers and rice and our 2 year old was offered a toddler meal at no charge (she chose the shells and cheese which also came with grapes). To finish the meal up we all enjoyed the selection of yummy desserts.

We would definitely do this lunch again.

Minnie and Friends Breakfast
I can't imagine a more fantastic character meal. The characters came to the table in a steady stream and over the course of the hour and a half many visited the table several times even (I think we saw Minnie 3 or 4 times). They spent quality time with the girls playing around, chatting, signing autographs, taking pictures, and giving plenty of hugs and kisses. The character interaction was far more than I would have expected! We saw Minnie, Chip, Dale, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Pooh, Tigger, Fairy Godmother, Rafiki, Max, Penguin, and Captain Hook.

The food was very good, normal breakfast fair and the refillable beverage bar was nice too. We really enjoyed the Mickey waffles, french toast, and the hashbrown potatoes.

Without a doubt we would do this meal again without any hesitation. My parents have done several character meals at Disneyland and Disney World and they said that this one was the best they have ever been to. :thumbsup2

So glad you enjoyed your meals! Minnie and Friends is our favorite character meal too--so many characters!!

Oh good! These are the two we are planning to do as well.

Did you see any 10 year old boys at either of these meals, and did they look miserable?? LOL, but seriously.... I need to know!

Oh, I'm also wondering how late we can get in for the breakfast with Minnie.... if you know.

Minnie and Friends goes til 11 a.m. :)

We did Ariel's in December and I don't remember seeing a lot of little guys, but I can vouch for the review on the food. It's TASTY!! :goodvibes

Thanks. Do you mean it ends at 11am, or is 11am the last time you can get a reservation?

I just called. The last seating at Plaza Inn is 10:50 a.m. for breakfast.

The last breakfast seating at Ariel's is at 10:10 a.m. Seating for lunch at the grotto is from 11:30-3:30.

Great review, thank you for sharing!! We are getting ready to do breakfast with Minnie for the first time coming up soon and every time I read one of these really great reviews I get even more excited for my little guy! :goodvibes

WEll I feel like a crazy person. I just booked Ariel's for a Saturday in June and got an 11:30 breakfast reservation..... and they told me it was $2 cheaper than last time I called.

Well, we don't have any girls, so I don't imagine we'll ever eat at Ariel's while the princesses are there. When we went a week and a half ago, we finally tried out Minnie's breakfast and had a great time. My boys are ages 9 and 11 and total Disney geeks. We have been to Goofy's many times, Storyteller's twice, and the meal at PCH Grill once back when it was still Stitch's breakfast. I'd have to say that our Minnie's experience was one of our best, if not the best, character meal experience we have had to date, and both my boys really enjoyed it. They love omelets and waffles and like getting their pictures taken with characters, so it was perfect for them.

Thanks for posting this, I have been trying to decide whether or not to book Minnie's breakfast so it's nice to hear a good & fresh review :goodvibes

Is Minnie's breakfast at the Plaza Inn in DL park? How far out can you make reservations? Thanks!

You can still eat at AG, just go at dinnertime and get the WoC seating instead of Princesses coming to your table. The food is absolutely worth it IMO! :)

OP those are my 2 favorite character meals, I'm so glad you enjoyed them both!! I love both the tri-tip and the chicken at AG, I have a hard time deciding between them! :)

Estella, yes, M&F is at the PI in DL. You can make reservations at 60 days out.

And now I feel even crazier because I called to move it back to 10am, and it's a good thing I did, because 11:30 is lunch!!! My kids won't eat the lunch food.

Anyway, another question. Sorry to keep hijackign this thread, but I'm kind of on topic:

Has anybody sat OUTSIDE for Ariel's breakfast? An outside table was all they had for the time I wanted. We are from Alaska and eating outside is a novelty for us, but I'm wondering if the Princesses give equal time to the outside guests?

Thanks.

P.

We been outside but not for bfast, only for lunch. We found it very pleasant, the Princesses still come to visit your table but you don't hear them get "announced", that's the only difference. :)

I have to echo the OP's experience at Minnie's breakfast! My family did the character breakfast there a few weeks ago and experienced the best character interaction ever. Like the OP stated, we had a steady stream of chararacters who hugged and played around with our kids. My 3 yo DD especially got a lot of attention, and she absolutely loved it! The food at Goofy's breakfast has more variety, but the character interaction at Minnie's was the best.

We were there for the first reservation time at 7:10 a.m. on a Saturday morning, were promptly seated, and almost immediately had characters at our table. Highly recommended :goodvibes
