We just returned from a fantastic week in Disneyland and had two wonderful character meals.
Ariel's Grotto
Our lunch at Ariel's Grotto was great. We had an 11:30 reservation and didn't wait long to be called downstairs to meet Ariel. My two girls, 6 and 2, loved meeting Ariel and getting her autograph. She signed "Love and fishes, Ariel" which my oldest thought was really cute.
Once we were at our table Prince Charming wandered around singing (afraid he might need to find a different day job lol). The girls were given colouring booklets, crayons, and make it yourself crowns with plenty of stickers to decorate them with. Then the princesses were announced one by one and visited each table. The girls got to chat with them briefly, get an autograph, and picture. We saw Cinderella, Belle, Princess Aurora, and Snow White.
The food was fantastic. We started with a basket of sourdough bread and 3 spreads. Next came the appetizer tower. I thought the salad was very good and there was a nice selection of other things to nibble on. After the appetizers our entrees arrived. Half our party had the tri tip and the other half the herb crusted chicken. I can't say enough about the garlic roasted mashed potatoes...oh my word, I could have eaten a whole pot of them! My oldest had the chicken skewers and rice and our 2 year old was offered a toddler meal at no charge (she chose the shells and cheese which also came with grapes). To finish the meal up we all enjoyed the selection of yummy desserts.
We would definitely do this lunch again.
Minnie and Friends Breakfast
I can't imagine a more fantastic character meal. The characters came to the table in a steady stream and over the course of the hour and a half many visited the table several times even (I think we saw Minnie 3 or 4 times). They spent quality time with the girls playing around, chatting, signing autographs, taking pictures, and giving plenty of hugs and kisses. The character interaction was far more than I would have expected! We saw Minnie, Chip, Dale, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Pooh, Tigger, Fairy Godmother, Rafiki, Max, Penguin, and Captain Hook.
The food was very good, normal breakfast fair and the refillable beverage bar was nice too. We really enjoyed the Mickey waffles, french toast, and the hashbrown potatoes.
Without a doubt we would do this meal again without any hesitation. My parents have done several character meals at Disneyland and Disney World and they said that this one was the best they have ever been to.
