I'm flying with Westjet Vacations, and they offer Character Meal Vouchers. We have already booked Dinner at Goofy's Kitchen, Breakfast at Minnie and Friends, and Dinner at Ariel's for 2 adults, 1 child, 1 free child under 3. The vouchers are $38 for Minnie's and $46 for Goofy's and Ariel's (prices in Canadian funds). They don't list the child's price. Is this a good deal if we're going Sept 22-26th? Seems a bit more expensive than just paying when we get there, if I recall correctly from last year's trip.

And vouchers here in the states include tax & tip. I purchased ours for Goofy's Kitchen earlier this week, 2 As & 1 C was $101 through GAT Ouch! but I know I saved a bit and it's pre paid :cool1:

but you only save money on prem chr meals not the chr breakfasts at plaza inn surfs up or storytellers. its cheaper to pay with gift card with those ones.

Not cheaper *gift cards won't save you $$* unless you buy them at Target with a Taget credit or debit card.... but Gift Cards *Disney* are a great way to pre pay for food at the parks.

This statement is untrue. It actually is dependent on whether you are going during low/peak season as to if you lose or save $ with the voucher. During peak season, you may save $ and it is not a bad idea to use the vouchers. During low season, it is better to pay cash because you will lose $....or should I say, leave a larger tip than necessary.
Peak season is 3/16/2012-8/19/2012.

ok then yes in peak season you would save money but since i normally do low season i guess thats why i say it will save to pay by cash or card

Ok - now I'm confused. Sorry. Being very unfamilar with the character meals, I'm going in october. Is the recommendation that I purchase the vouchers from GAT or pay cash because that will be cheaper that time of year. I was going to purchase the vouchers this week. Would love your thoughts.

Better to pay with cash since October is low season.

I'd buy, goofy's kitchen vouchers should never cause you to lose money, you might not save any money but at least it's paid for in advance. I like to have as much of our visit paid for in advance.

During low season, GK is $25.99 for brunch and $31.99 for dinner. You may break even for dinner, but you lose money with the brunch...well, you are tipping $10+ a person. Hopefully, you are planning on dinner.

We are going to do Goofys kitchen for dinner in the week after thanksgiving. Can anyone tell me what season this is and what price we can expect to pay?

You're right, I just got off the phone with GAT and cancelled my vouchers *quick and easy* we're doing Goofy's for brunch; $26 each for DS & I and $14 for DD. We should come in under the $101 that the 3 vouchers cost me from GAT for our brunch. I'll just purchase another $100 Disney GC to cover this meal.

One of the problems with the character dining vouchers (unlike Disney Gift Cards or just cash) is if you are tired, full, or have to cancel your dining reservation, and can't reschedule, you are out the money. For such a small savings, I'm probably going to pass on the vouchers, just so I don't feel locked in to my dining reservations, especially those later on during my trip when energy levels are less predictable.
