Character meal questions

I am making reservations for our first trip and am curious. How do I know if a character meal uses more meal tickets? We have reservations for:

breakfast at Ohana (Polynesian)
Dinner @ Whispering Canyon Cafe
Dinner @ Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom
Dinner @ Coral Reef (Epcot)
Dinner @ Mama Melrose's (Hollywood Studios)

We're also considering dinner at either Park 1900 or The Wave.

Some say "Characters included" but the bottom of the reservation says "dining plan entitlements used" and they all say 1

So are they not "extra"?

The only character meal that costs two dining credits is Cinderella's Royal Table (well, there is also Mickey's Backyard Barbecue, but it's classified as a dinner show, not a character meal).

All others are one credit.

Whispering Canyon, Coral Reef, Mama Melrose and the Wave are not character meals.

Thanks. When I made the reservations, a few of the ones I did, like "Crystal Palace" said Characters included. Do any of the restaurants have any characters walking around? I was at least hoping to see Lilo and Stitch at breakfast at Ohana.

Of the above restauants you are going to, only Crystal Palace has characters.
The others do not.

If you choose 1900 parkfare, it has characters, the wave does not.

Usually a character meal is a buffet...like Crystal Palace, with the exception of CRT and the show meals.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. I considered Park 1900 but I kept reading reviews that said it was not good at all and to go to the Wave instead. Since I wasn't sure, I went with The Wave instead.

'Ohana breakfast DOES have characters (dinner does not, but you say you are booking breakfast) and Lilo & Stitch are featured.

At the restaurants that are character meals, the characters walk around to the tables for pictures and autographs.

Here is the link to 2 credit meals: the far right column where it says "signature restaurants"

You will hear/see bad reviews all the time. We took our first disney trip in May. I have cancelled ADRs (Ohana's dinner & Chef Mickey's dinner) cause of some people would say that they had a bad experience with the food, waiting a lont time, services, & etc. I scored another ADR for both places. Ohana's dinner is one of my family favorite restrauants. The kids love Chef Mickey's; the character interactions were awesome, but the food was okay. I was worried about Chef Mickey, but it was the restrauant that my dd pick for her birthday celebration. We will do breaksfast if the kids want to see the fab five again. Just go & try out 1900 Park Fare just once. 1900 Park Fare dinner is on my list to try for our next trip.

All of the meals you have listed are 1 credit. Characters at Crystal Palace are the Hundred Acre Woods regs: Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet. Ohana should have Mickey, Pluto, Lili and Stitch. They are both good meals with positive interaction. Crystal Palace is a buffet and Ohana is served family style to your table, all you can eat. Both have a little parade for the kids with the characters also.

Whispering Pines is fun for a family due to the antics they put on. The kids should have fun there too. Hobby horse races, craziness from the staff.

Coral Reef and Mama's are more just sit down type meals. There is an aquarium at the Reef.

We enjoyed Park Fare. Characters there for dinner are Cinderella, Prince Charming, the wicked step-sisters and step Mother. For breakfast includes Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter, and I think Pooh and/or Tigger also.
Never been to the Wave.

Have a great time!!:goodvibes
