We are going to Universal in Dec the week before CHristmas. I saw online that you can buy tickets for the character meal at IOA. If I prebuy them will it be hard to use them? Also do I need reservations and if so how soon before should I make them. We are going with another family and I am sure they will want to do the meal too so it will be for 10 or two parties of 5. I am trying to get whatever I can pre bought and paid for but I don't want to waste the money if I won't be able to do it.

I can't answer your question but.....

:offtopic: I noticed your DD's name. I have a Joelle too! We will be celebrating her 15th bday when we go on our first trip to Universal in Sept.

I can't answer your question either, sorry.

Can you tell me where you see the information to prebuy. The only thing I see online is the meal deal. I am trying to get things prepaid before we go so I don't have to worry about cash, like buying gift certificates to Margarittaville and Hard Rock. I'd love to have a character meal at Universal for our family. Here's hoping you'll share your info with me.

when you go onto the universal site I just did a search for character dining and it was the first option. Are you staying at the Hard rock? I was looking online and they have a character meal as well. Wondering if anyone can go. Are the gift cards good for meals too and where did you get them?

TIA

Here is the link for the character dining at Islands of Adventure:

The gift cards are only good for buying tickets at the gate. Otherwise, you need to redeem the gift card at Guest Services for Universal dollars. These dollars can be used at the meals. But honestly, I'd forget the gift cards. They are too much work just to use them. If they could be used like most gift cards, it would be great but unfortunately you need to redeem them for the Universal $. And if the store has not processed them correctly it may show a zero balance on the cards when you go to redeem them.

With a party of 10, I'd make reservations at least a week ahead of time. Most likely, you could get in making reservation a day ahead of time but since it is a large group, I wouldn't want to chance it.
