We have been to WDW a number of times, but are venturing into the Universal world for our upcoming trip.

My family really enjoys character meals and buffets (I have a picky eater who can find things on a buffet easier than a menu). I would greatly appreciate any info from anyone who has experienced these options at Universal.

  • What character meal options are there?
  • Do any of the restaurants offer early entry reservation to the parks like Crystal Palace at MK?
  • How do I arrange for character meals?
  • Are any character meals a buffet?
  • What is a good suggestion for a breakfast buffet? How about dinner?
  • Are there any character meals at the resorts?

I appreciate any suggestions and recommendations.
TIA

just got back from universal and did the breakfast at confisco grill at ioa. the food left a lot to be desired(it was a buffet), but the character interaction was great. spiderman was awesome. the cat in the hat and thing one and two were there, but spiderman stole the show. i have never had better character interaction and have been to many character meals at disney.

have been to the kitchen and saw shrek and scooby doo. and the food was much better.

hrh and rph have great breakfast buffets in their hotels.

last year i did the breakfast buffet 4 days in a row at the Kitchen in HRH.
I was stuffed until 2:00 those days!!

The on site hotels, have character dinners and some nights a magician for the families.
You need to call the hotel direct as dates may change for the character dining.
you order from the menu for those character dinners.

you asked: Do any of the restaurants offer early entry reservation to the parks like Crystal Palace at MK?

Most of the restaurants in the parks do not serve breakfast.
They generally open at 11 each day.
You will find some places in the port of entry that open 9:00.
Places in City Walk such as cinnabon, are open at 8:00.

I do agree with the other poster that the spiderman breakfast is excellent for character interactions.

Ditto.

Great character interaction (because Confisco's isn't a large restaurant).

Food was breakfast food...but, quite the selection. Eggs, french toast, cereal, pastries, fruit, etc.... But, be warned. Milk & oj (i think) are NOT included in buffet price. (stupid, i know)
