Our 15 year old daughter will be taking a friend when we go to WDW in January. The friend has never been to Disney, so it seems only right that she experience a Character Meal. Is there a character meal that may be more appropriate for older kids? :)

My oldest son 14 still enjoys Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. For some reason those places and those places only can I get him to still take photos with the characters. My older nieces have also enjoyed these two restaurants through the years.

I would suggest CP. Depending on your kid, they may feel akward having conversations with the characters, so I'd avoid face character meals. Of course at 15 I still went to CRT, but that was me.

I think CP is great, the food is really good too. Teenage girls might really enjoy hugging Pooh and Eeyore etc.... I also love Donald's Resterauntasoarus at Animal Kingdom its great atmosphere and has Mickey,Pluto, Donald and Goofy.

On my 2005 trip, I had two 14 year olds with me. They really enjoyed the character breakfast over at the Beach Club (Cape May buffet). The characters there are Goofy, Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale all dressed in beach/surfing attire.

Goofy, especially, seemed to ham it up real well with the teens and they didn't feel out of place at all. Also, the character breakfast here is always very low-key (i.e., not a lot of toddlers running around trying to hug the characters and coming up to YOUR table).

On the other hand, I will agree with the other poster about face characters. On this past trip, my kids were 15 and 12, and we happened to have dinner over at 1900 Park Fare (all we could get into). They have face characters there who, awkwardly, tried to pay attention to my older kids. Good for them, but it was kind of awkward because my kids feel weird with it. The face characters are definitely better for the young kid.

We leave June 8th, my son's girlfriend and my niece will be with us this trip, neither has been to DW before. DS's girlfriend wanted Ohana's and Lilo & Stitch, so that's what we booked. Why not let the girls decide what they might want to do.....

Another vote for CP. We went last August with DD18 and her friend, also 18. The food was great and they loved the Pooh characters. Nice atmosphere, too!:thumbsup2
