Just finished our first day of a 6 day trip - our first ever! My daughter was surprisingly obsessed with character M&G. My question - how do you find out about the not permanent (PFH, Ariel etc) character meeting time and locations? We randomly stumbled upon a few today but feel like we are missing more and there must be a better way?

Kenny the Pirate's site is excellent for this.

Use the MDE app and swipe left at the top of the home page to Characters.

They are listed for that park with their meeting times and break/lunch times.

I have a subscription to Kenny the Pirate's website and it is AWESOME! I highly suggest giving it a peep.

When you enter the park, you can pick up a map and separate Times Guide. The Times Guide includes a list of character meeting times and locations. If you are looking for anyone in particular, the handlers with characters can be a great source for info about other character M&G as well.

I always use the app because it tells you where they are and what times they are available. That helps me plan them into where we are in the park at that moment. If we have a break between FP's or we just want to take a break from rides we see which characters are close using the map and go from there.

I believe the character locator portion requires subscription (my family really enjoys character meets so we've subscribed for a couple years).

I just looked and it does cost money. I think we will just go and do our best with what the app shows. Do you know off the top of your head any characters that Disney doesn't usually show?

Starlord and Groot won’t be on the DHS Times Guide - they never list the characters from current movies.

We've met Evil Queen, Dopey, Max, White Rabbit, Bert, Bolt, Robin Hood, and more that weren't posted. I've seen others posting pics recently with Launchpad, Meeko, Brer Fox, etc.

This random grouping of characters is dependent upon which Fantasmic CMs are in early for a full shift that includes going out in the late afternoon to do character sets before the show that evening.

No one can ever guarantee specific characters for these afternoon sets. The CMs never really know which character costumes will be available.

I'm mostly asking for MK. We are only doing AK and MK and I'm only interested in meeting characters at MK. Should I just plan on using the app?

Yes. All characters should be listed there.

Another place to check is wdwent.com although it won’t be as specific as the app.

And those random characters are based on bored CMs who are sitting around as spares and will go out to do something rather than sit around or leave early and lose pay.

I have met unlisted characters at MK but it's not as common (wouldn't be able to guarantee that on the given day you are there that there would be any).

I appreciate the bored CM's. We're always excited to meet rare characters.

I don't blame them. That would be fun!
