Character Greeting Experience

Darth Maul hissing at DD last June at SSW and Stitch stealing DD's autograph book and running away with it at MGM and then then Princess Aurora making a huge deal about DD and I having matching shirts. It was cute. DD talked about it all day.

It was my DD 7th birthday during our las trip. She's pretty shy around people, so she wasn't really interacting with the characters much. She would just go and get her autograph and picture and that was it. Well, we went into the building to see Mickey in MGM. there were only 4 people in front of us. By the time they were done, about 10 people were behind us. Well, Mickey saw my DD birthday button and he started conducting the people in the room and pointing to her button, so everyone sang Happy Birthday to her. That was her biggest smile the whole trip!

i have one(well maybe two) :Pinkbounc !!! LOL...... this past january at MK we were walking back along adventureland after riding PotC pirate: 4x in a row while Wishes was going on.(we had watched it the previous night and were going to see it again our last night that week) well that whole area was empty as the fireworks were still going on, ( i mean not a soul in site, almost eerie in a happy sort of way ;) ), and out a back door near agrabah bazaar came Robin Hood and his crew. friar tuck, little john, and for whatever reason meeko was with them too. ds(8) ran right up to them and they took him over to a lite up corner, and joked, and played with him, signed his autograph book, let us take tons of pics. and little john kept holding ds pen up so he had to jump to try and reach it. this went on for almost 15 min until wishes was over and people started to appear and line up. warm fuzzies for all of us that night. :)

we also had a very nice CM who was Alladin's helper, that befriended us. we made a point to notice where CM's were from and when we saw some with New England or novia scotia as their "from" area, we made a point to let them know we were fellow NE's from up in maine. Well this nice CM was from the Boston area and knew the area we are from, so we chatted about that and the Sox a bit and while ds played with Alladin (who for whatever reason had no line at all that morn). while the CM was chatting with us he drew the most amazing (though not wdw fitting  ) picture of the Batman logo. this was huge to ds who had no idea he did it and is a huge superhero freak. he swears that CM was bruce wayne!! :rotfl:

We have had so many wonderful encounters with the characters but I am still cracking up something that happened recently. We go all of the time and my daughter is known by name by some characters. Well one night we were waiting in line to meet Mickey. Considering we do not know who is behind there I did not think anything. Mickey got so excited and gave my DD a huge hug. It seemed to last forever. When they were done hugging my daughter started yelling "he talked to me, he talked to me!!!!" I was trying to divert her attention while he signed her book. I was afraid he (or she) was going to get in trouble having talked to her. Then when they hugged good-bye it was another long hug. Low and behold the hug ends and she starts yelling again "he talked to me, he talked to me!!!" I was cracking up by this point. I asked her what he said and she said "bye bye Brooklyn" She is 4 so she does not remember too much of what he said. She was just sooooo excited that it happened. It was so cute, I wish I knew who was behind there that day. :confused3

Two favorite encounters:

1. Eating at CRT for dinner and DW and I had just eaten the Cinderella slipper and DD3 had eaten crown sundae. We were walking down the stairs when we see Cinderella. DD started yelling Cinderella, Cinderella... There was no line to see her and DD ran up and gave her a hug. She told her how much she enjoyed the dinner and loved WDW. That made her day.

2. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum - watching them play with people's autograph books, pens, making each other dizzy - just fun to watch.

On our first visit to WDW in 2000, my son Bradley (then 7) forgot his character signing book when we visited MK and asked if Gold Dust Gus could sign his sister's twice (so he could move the page to his book later).

Gold Dust Gus then asked him where he was from (Bradley said West Swindon, England). GDG boomed " I have neighbours in North Swindon, what a coincidence!" - There is actually a North Swindon!!!!

Anyways, he marched us all off to the nearest gift shop and loudly announced to the young lady serving at the till that "Bradley here needs a new character signing book and pen, he left his at the hotel! Make sure he gets what he wants...." This was all said at megaphone decibel levels so everyone in the store knew that our Bradley was getting a free book and pen.

GDG then ceremoniously signed his new book and wished us all well.

Needless to say we always look out for GDG. The next time we visited (two years later) he was in the 3 p.m. parade ( the same guy as in 2000) but alas we never saw him apart from that.

He is on our "Most Wanted" list for our trip in October to thank him again for a great memory of WDW.

The best one was when ds was 5 and it was our 1st trip, we were walking through MGM and up from behind us comes Pinochio skipping. He stops and grabs ds's hands and off they went skipping together. We actually lost them for a moment in the crowd that was gathering near the other characters, but when we got there ds was 1st in line for Pinnochio and waiting patiently for us to catch up.

2 years ago at the Crystal Palace breakfast, I returned from the buffet to find Eeyore sitting across from my DFi, pretending to drink from my water bottle and eat (holding a fork) from DFi's plate.
After DFi took my picture with Eeyore, Eeyore pointed at me and gave my DFi a thumbs up! Made my day. princess:

Last December at MVMCP, we were walking by a tent area where all the characters were dancing with people and chip and dale grabbed my 85 year old aunt her first time every in WDW and they just kept dancing with her and she was just smiling and laughing. The DJ told them that they had to let her go and move on and they ignored him as well as she did.

She was in a wheelchair and they were so good with her, she talked about it all night and people watching next to my cousin who began crying since she hadn't seen her that happy in a long were crying with her and commenting it was so such a sweet and magical moment.

Needless to say we are already booked for December this year.

We had managed to make it to the Judges' Tent our first day in the World after not getting an early start. We were last in line of our group to see Mickey. Several families with kids got quick photos taken and were ushered out. We took our family pic with Mickey, then he "shooed" DW and I away. He posed for several pictures with DS5 and DD3 because one or the other would not look at the camera. I thought it was so neat that the Mouse took extra time with our kids when the others were just in and out. That was definately a great way to start a great trip.

About 10 years ago, I saw Pluto in Epcot. There wasn't really a line to see him, he just got there. And he came up to me,took my hand, and pulled me in for a hug and a dip! My sister got a picutre, so cute, and definitely one of my favorite moments with a character.
...Also, it seems like these days Mickey is a Super Duper star and is almost impossible to come across! At this point, I get really excited to just be able to see him in a parade. But my DH and I were there for our honeymoon in May and there he was at the entrance to World Showcase in Epcot, in his classic red overalls with Minnie, Donald, and Goofy and Friends. So, my DH and I got our first picture with Mickey Mouse on our honeymoon- very, very special. I have a picture, I wish I knew how to post it with my message! Oh well.:earboy2:

My favorite character experience was in 2003. We took my boyfriend's youngest son to Disney World. He had just turned 6 at the time. He loved meeting all the characters, but he was so cute when we met Minnie Mouse. It was our turn with her, and he walks up to her and says "So, um, I hear you are Mickey's girlfriend" and she nodded at him. Then he says "You know, he's standing right over there" and she looked and nodded again. Then he started singing "Hakuna Matata" to her, because we could hear the music to it playing. Minnie put her hands up to her heart when he did that. After the picture was taken, I walk over to my boyfriend, and turn and there is his son, just hugging Minnie and he didn't want to let go. We almost had to drag him away from her, he loved her so much. It was so cute!

We've had so many great character experiences, but that is probably one that will always bring a smile to my face.

Oh gosh! I have sooo many character experiences I don't know where to start! :confused3 There are a few that are my very favorite.
1. It was after the Cinderella's Surprise Show at the castle. I was in line to see Mickey. During the meeting, he got down on his knee, took my hand, and kissed it! :lovestruc I could not believe it, especially when the CM took a photo of it!

2. My other experience happened at Toontown. I found out Daisy was there and I went to see her (I was "friends" with Daisy that night). Daisy was hysterical- she was flirting with all the guys and playing with all the little kids (Daisy was not supposed to be there- Goofy got called away). When it was my turn, Daisy made me pose like her and it was great! After the photo she "signed" to me that one of the photopass guys was hot and when the other photopass guy looked at us she made a "you're crazy" sign! :rolleyes1 I don't think I ever had so much fun! :rotfl:

My favorite moment wasn't even with my family.

We were waiting in line for Lilo and Stitch and they went in for a little break. We were first in line when they came back. The CM comes out and asks if we mind waiting for another family to see L & S first. Not a problem. When L & S came out a family stepped up with a child from Make A Wish. L & S were soo attentive with the whole family. Hugs and kisses for everyone. I stood there and cried the whole time.

My favorite character experience involved my DS3 and Tigger. We were in AK and he was getting tired and having one of those 3.5-year-old moments with lots of disobedience and not wanting to do what mom and dad wanted to do.

Well, we got in line to get Tigger's autograph. My DS spent the whole time in line complaining and saying that he did not want to be there. When we got up to Tigger, he did not want to have a picture taken and was in a hurry to leave.

On the walk away from Tigger, mom gave him an attitude adjustment discussion. DS said, "I HATE Tigger!" loud enough for the other kids in line to hear it.

The next day we were in MK. My DS was in a much better mood and I reminded him that the next time he saw Tigger that he needed to apologize to him.

When the parade started, we were back a few rows so I hoisted my DS up on my shoulders. As Tigger went by he came over to our side of the street, and I could hear my son softly say, "I'm sorry Tigger. I don't hate you." He probably knew that Tigger could not hear him, but he knew that he was doing the right thing.

My wife and I were in tears as we talked about what had happened. It was a very special moment.

Mine happens to be about my DD on her first trip to WDW. She was 2 at the time. We got to ToonTown for the rope drop. We didn't know all of the characters came to the rope for the drop, so we got excited seeing them skipping towards us. All of a sudden both Minnie and Chip grab my DD hands (who is still in my DW arms) and start skipping with her to Minnie's house (with my DW in tow). Meanwhile I'm trying to capture all of this on video. Of couse while doing this I happen to walk right into a trash can and nearly knock it over.

Then while going through Minnie's house we are first in line, since Minnie brought our DD in. We get to the back patio room for our picture with Chip and there is a line behind us. Once the photos are taken, Chip takes our DD's hand again and walks her outside all through Minnie's garden to the gazeboo while everyone else is waiting for their pic with Chip. We take some more pictures and our DD is so excited she starts hopping which makes Chip giggle and he starts hopping too. I don't know if Chip did that for all of the kids, since we were the first one there and therefore didn't have anyone in front of us to compare, but this totally made our DD's day. And now even though she is 2 yrs older and totally immersed in the princesses, she holds a special spot in her heart for both Chip & Dale.
