My niece (well okay and me and her Nana too) are big Harry Potter fans, so are planning our first trip to UO for January 2010...yes it's a long way away but we have to save up our trip money etc. and the Harry Potter experience isn't open yet.

Anyway, I am wondering what character experiences are available there in general. Do they have scheduled appearances and locations, and do they sign autographs like at WDW? What about character meals? The UO website is pretty vague, so I was hoping for some personal experiences.

TIA!

The onsite hotels have characters appear there...I don't know much about those, but others do.

Also, I have experienced the character breakfast at Confisco's in IOA. Typical buffet with hot, cold and everything you could think of for breakfast. However, milk and juice are NOT included in the price :confused3 but the character interaction was great. It's a small restaurant, so they get to spend a lot of time at each table. Spiderman will stay and chat for a while, while Thing 1 and 2 goof around with the guests. Cat in the Hat also makes an appearance....

In the Kid Zone area of the Studios, they have a show and characters sign autographs and pose for pix ... Man in the Yellow Hat, Scooby, Shaggy, Dora, can't think of who else...we always miss the 'show'

Great thanks! My DS will be just turning 4, and so still in love with his fave characters :)

I was just at IOA yesterday for my DD's 5th birthday. We did the character breakfast at Confiscos and it was fantastic! Spider-Man came by multiple times to chat with my kids and told my DS he would be his new sidekick. He made a big fuss over DD's birthday. Thing 1 and Thing 2 danced with my kids. The Cat in the Hat was also there. I've been to many character meals in Orlando I'd have to say the character interaction at this breakfast was by far the best. After breakfast, we saw Woody Woodpecker as soon as we left Confisco's, then in Seuss Island a few minutes later saw the Grinch, the two guys from Green Eggs and Ham, the Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 again. Characters were everywhere, and the lines were short to nonexistent.

I ran into Doc Brown today. I was surprised to see him, and was like "Doc Brown! Good to see you're still around!" He said that he still had experiments to conduct and that he had a "new office." :rotfl:

Cat in the Hat, Grinch, Things 1 and 2, Guy, and Sam I Am in Suess Landing (IoA)

Popeye, Olive Oyl, others in Toon Lagoon (IoA)

Villians and other Marvel SuperHeroes in Marvel Superhero Island (IoA)

Many more at USO including:
Bullwinkle, Shaggy, Scooby-Doo, Man in the Yellow Hat, Curious George, and some more "face" characters i.e. Lucy, Betty Boop, etc

And SpongeBob is also at Universal Studios, along with Jimmy Neutron, Shrek, Fiona and Donkey. Our kids loved them all!

Here's who we saw in Feb

IOA
Spideman
Wolverine
Captain America
Woody Woodpecker
Betty Boop
Grinch
Cat In The Hat
Thing 1 & Thing 2

Universal
Jimmy Neutron
SImpsons - couldn't tell which ones we walked by them fast
Ted and Curious George
Shaggy and Scooby
Woody Woodpecker and his girlfriend
The Lion and Penguins from Madagascar

The Jaws shark is named Bruce. Useless tidbit of info for you all. :3dglasses

Anyone have pics of the Jaws shark or the grinch and thing one and thing two? Or any of these in general?
