We've done several character dinners in the past. Our favorite was always Liberty Tree Tavern, but I've read that is no longer a character meal.

What are your musts?

Already on my list are Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey.

We usually do the breakfasts over dinners because they are less expensive (when we pay OOP). However, to answer your question, we liked Crystal Palace alot, but I am a huge Winnie the Pooh fan so anytime I can see my guys I am happy :goodvibes. For our upcoming trip we have dinner ADRs for Cinderella's Castle (first time, always have done breakfast) and are excited about trying this out. We have done 1900 Park Fare dinner and thought it was okay along with Chef Mickey's dinner, which we probably will never do again unless it is breakfast. Good luck and enjoy :goodvibes

we love Tusker House breakfast buffet (good food, great juice, and wonderful character interaction and then a musical parade)
If you have a toddler the Hollywood and Vine breakfast or lunch buffet...great character interaction and they have a song/dance ever 15 or 20 mins and then a parade.

I agree with Pooh&ourHunny on Tusker House. The buffet breakfast was huge and the character interaction was awesome... Lot's of dancing. It tends to be a popular meal so more than likely you will only see the characters once.

If you have a little girl... Princess Storybook dining at Akershus in Epcot's Norway is a great princess meal. We did breakfast .. there was a continental breakfast (fruit and pastries) along with family style dining for the main course. The food was great, and you get to see some of the other princesses that aren't at the castle (Mulan, Aurora, Ariel). princess:

We also really liked Play & Dine at Hollywood & Vine for character interaction. The buffet breakfast was OK, nothing crazy. We were there for an early breakfast and the interaction with the characters was by far the best. Each character was at our table 3 or 4 times, there was dancing with the characters for the younger kids and a parade that marched around the restaurant.

Chef Mickey is a favorite in our house! The whole family loves the atomsphere ! and all the characters! Crystal palace is our second favorite!

when the girls were little, it was all about the Princesses! CRT was an awesome breakfast!

It really depends on if you are looking for dinner or breakfast as well as your taste in characters. The Garden Grill for dinner is pretty good. It is by far the most relaxing of the character meals (not nearly as noisey as the others). The food isn't anything fantastic but the character interaction may be the best of them all. We think this is the only character dinner worth going to. We feel the food at all the other dinners is pretty bad.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed Donald's Breakfast Safari and the Supercalifragilistic Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare.

We did almost every character meal on our last trip (gotta love deluxe dining ;)) and our family's favorites were Tusker House and Ohana breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. We also enjoyed Akershus. :goodvibes

Our very first character meal was the Princess Breakfast at Akershus. It was a wonderful bfast for my then DD11. She was able to meet her favorite princess, Mulan.

Our other favorites have been Garden Grill. Chip and Dale were so entertaining and we saw the characters at least twice during our meal. That was probably our best character interaction so far. But a close second, and it's a VERY close second, was the stepsisters at 1900 PF. They were absolutely hilarious. I wasn't too thrilled with the food, but the characters here were definitely worth another trip back in the future. Not on our next trip as we have several other new restaurants we are wanting to try.

We had ok character interaction at CP for breakfast and lunch, but the food there is awesome. CM also had ok characters and the food was just average. Tusker House gets a lot of recommendations but the day we went, the characters seemed quite rushed and didn't want to spend a lot of time at our table at all. The food was ok here also. We did enjoy the Ohana breakfast with Lilo and Stitch. Stitch was playful and we had good character interaction here. Food was just normal, breakfast, nothing outstanding but nothing bad either.

In June, we did every character meal except Beach Club. Our favorite for character interaction was 1900 PF dinner. DD was able to dance with Cinderella & Prince Charming while wearing her own Cinderella dress. It brought tears to our eyes! Second was breakfast in Cindy's castle.

As far as food, my favorite was Ohana breakfast. Second favorite was Play n Dine at Hollywood & Vine.

My least favorite was Donald's Breakfast Safari at Tusker House. We were further away from the buffet, our CM was good, but slow. We're not adventurous eaters, so the African inspired food didn't appeal to us. However, our CM did take the only family picture we got with Mickey and it'll probably be on our Christmas cards this year!

Chef Mickey's dinner was our first character meal on our first night of our first Disney family vacation. Because of that, it'll always be special to us too.
