I would really like to fit one character meal in during our trip over Christmas, however, being totally new to this I have no idea where to start, and I am pretty sure that there will be no reservations left anyway.

Where, in your opinion, is the best place to go for a character meal (not bothered which meal it is, but would prefer lunch/evening meal over breakfast if oushed) and can you please tell me how to go about ringing and begging for a reservation.

We have had dinner at both Liberty Tree Tavern (in MK) and Garden Grill (in the Land at Epcot). We enjoyed both.

We had more Character interaction at Garden Grill as it is a smaller restaurant the charaters came round more than once.

If I only could do 1 It would do Crystal Palace , it's a buffet meal so lots of choice. you get to meet pooh, tigger eeyore and piglet! It's quite reasonable as well.

:thumbsup2 We had a great character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare the interaction was brilliant from the CMs and the food was very tasty and fresh too. They made omlettes to order and pancakes too. A great start to the day and it filled us up until around lunch time even then we had a light lunch.
Character dining is being removed from dinner at LTT and lunch at Garden Grill:sad1:

Chef Mickeys is a good one :thumbsup2

Chef Mickeys is great.

We also do Mickeys Backyard BBQ....it is a dinner show at Wilderness Camp ground with a cowboy theme. The character interaction is so much fun.

Mickey,Minnie,Goofy,Chip and Dale dance with the kids on the dance floor.

We have done it the last 3 trips and i asked my DS who will be 9 on our next trip if he wanted to miss it next year and he was horrified.

It really is good.

Thansk for all the replies. I'm going to sound really silly now, but that phone number...I will be calling from Germany, do I need to alter it at all? Or will it get me through?

I fancied Chef Mickeys but not sure where exactly it is, how accessible it will be to us (staying offsite) etc.

We did Chef Mickeys last yea; it is at the Contempory hotel which is close to Magic Kingdom. Once at MK you just take the monorail to the hotel which is ony 3-4 mins, if that. We were staying at Wildenress lodge so we got the boat across the lake and then jumped on the monorail.

Crystal Palace for me too, its a must do for us every trip

We have done character Dining at Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree Tavern and out of these CP is probably the best. I seen on hear today that they are stopping CD at LTT.

The dialing code from Germany is the same 001 :)

You can walk from the MK to the Contemporary resort too, but it is nice to arrive by monorail.

If you're arriving by car, you can also drive to the Contemporary and park there. You just need to tell the security guy at the gate that you have a dining reservation. If you choose this option, the driver will need to have photo ID.

Even over the busy Christmas period, it's unlikely that all the character meals will be fully booked this far out. You might need to be flexible with times or location, but you'll get something. I'd draw up a shortlist of dates and restaurants before you ring and have it all written down. That way, you won't get flustered if your first choice isn't available. Good luck and let us know how you got on. :thumbsup2
