Character Dining Question

I am pretty much "not in the know" when it comes to character dining. We would like to take our kids (5, 3, 7 months) to a character breakfast. My wife's exceptions are that she wants one that is A) in a theme park (not at a resort) B) includes the main traditional characters (Mickey, Donald, Pooh, etc) and C) is not girl-themed since this trip is celebrating our 5 year old boy's birthday.

From what I can tell my only choice is pretty much Donald's Safari Breakfast? Maybe one of you has a better idea?

I know Chef Mickey's is at the Contemporary Resort but can you be at the MK really quickly from there? Could you go to MK, then leave for breakfast, then back to MK without a lot of hassle is my big concern.

One last thing. We are going first part of April. Do I have a good chance at getting a reservation or do those book quickly?

Thanks!

You can walk from MK to the Contemporary, takes about 10 minutes. It is possible you may not want to do that with babies though. If the younger ones have strollers should be no problem. The monorail ride over to Contemporary doesn't take that long and is fun.

If Mickey must be there, your only choices are Chef Mickey's, Ohana breakfast, Garden Grill dinner, or Donald's Safari Breakfast (the last two are inside theme parks). Pooh never appears with the Fab 5 but has his own 3 meals at Crystal Palace with other Pooh characters.

Chef Mickey's is very popular and books up quickly.

I understand completely. We ate at Chef Mickey's for dinner when my DS was 4 1/2 yrs old. We ate at Donald's Safari Breakfast when he was 6 yrs old. He is now 8 yrs old for our trip in June and we enjoy the breakfast buffets at the parks. But not too many choices for boys. He loves the classic characters. Even tho he has out grown the Pooh characters we are making ADRs for the Crystal Palace at MK for breakfast just because we all enjoy the morning buffets. He is an easy going kid so he is happy(and I did show him pictures of the restaurant). Plus we don't have a photo with Piglet. So we need Piglet for our collection. :goodvibes Maybe ask your son's opinion (unless it is a b-day surprise). Maybe he would be happy with Crystal Palace. Plus with 3 children under 5 it would be so much easier on you and your wife.

MK- Crystal Palace (B, L, D) Pooh and Friends
AK-Donald's Safari Breakfast (B) Donald, Daisy, Mickey and Goofy or Pluto.

At this late of a date I think it would be nearly impossible to get reservations for Chef Mickey's and they are one of the restaurants that kept the 180 reservation window because of how popular they are.

As others have said, at CP inside MK you have Pooh & Friends no Fab 5 characters. With that being said, I have heard that people love getting into the park before opening to get pictures of the castle & main street when no one else is around. And I've heard the food is really good with a good variety.

If you want the Fab 5 and you want to avoid a resort Donald's Safari Breakfast in AK and even then I don't think all the Fab 5 is there. But I don't know since I've never been.

Since it is for your son, get his input and see which one he would rather do. You can also go to allears.net and look at the menus for both CP and Donald's Breakfast and see which food he's more interested in.

If you wanted to do the breakfast on a day that you had planned to go to DHS or Epcot you could try the Goofy's Breakfast at the Cape May Cafe. I'ts not in the parks but it is adjacent to the parks. You would take a bus to DHS; it's then a 15 to 20 minute walk over to the Beach Club. You could walk from there back to DHS or to the international gateway to Epcot. We're having breakfast there doing our first morning. I've heard a lot of good things about it. When I did a poll comparing this to CM it won hands down (39 to 15). It features Goofy, Minnie and Donald. The only down side is no Mickey. It is supposed to be laidback and the kid's are supposed to get a lot of attention from the characters.

This is also one of the breakfasts that because of location is not as popular as some of the others. At this late date you're more likely to get an ADR. Otherwise I'd say Donald's breakfast Safari or the Crystal Palace are your best bets.

Today I had trouble getting an ADR for Donald's Breakfast for May 6 and I've heard Crystal Palace is also very popular. Don't forget that if you can't find room for a party of 5 to ask about room for a party of 6.:thumbsup2

Chef Mickey or Donald's Safari. Have done both and both are very good.

You might be late for the ADR. Good Luck.

CRAAAAP! I HAVE TO CALL!

Strangely enough MY 5 year old WANTS to see Cinderella. I don't want to spend two TS on CRT so I think we're going to try dinner at 1900 PF - I read here that the evil stepmom & sisters are a hoot!

We are also doing Crystal Palace for sure - my son loves Tigger.

WOW... Thanks so much as this helps me and the wife a lot in deciding. I need to hurry and make that call!

I'm going in May for a "boys only" with my DS4. I was told to tell Lady Tremaine that my DS4 is a very rich Prince. They take it from there. Sounds fun.
