Want to take granddaughter to a character meal but It is not worth the price for me as I had gastric bypass surgery and can not eat much. Any suggestions as to where we should go where I can NOT eat or just order something small off the menu? Maybe we will have to skip the character dining and hopefully she will be happy just meeting the characters in the parks.

Disney makes accomodations for folks who have had gastric bypass as long as you have your medical card. I believe that you pay the child's price. Check out the DISabilities board for more info - there are plenty of people who deal with this on their trips and it's no reason to miss something so special with your granddaughter!;)

Have a wonderful trip!

You can skip dinner and go to the "Character Spot" @ Epcot ( accross from Innoventions) and see a lot of the characters in a timely manner.
As far as I know, most of the character dinning is buffet. The Garden Grill at Epcot is 'family style'. I you do want to do character dining, that would be my suggestion because it would probably be cheaper than the buffet.

Have a Magical Time!
