Character Dining: non-buffet? okay without kids?

Are all of the character dining experiences buffets?

What about going to a character dining without kids? Surely no one cares.

I dont about all character meals, but Akershus and Ohana bring a platter of food to your table (Akershus also has items you can walk up to get too); and CRT is individual plates of whatever you ordered.

Going to character dining without kids - seen it lots of times, and no one cares. Enjoy.

In addition to CRT, Akershus, and Ohana (breakfast only), the new character breakfast at Trattoria al Forno at Disney’s BoardWalk is also not a buffet, you choose your meal from a menu.

My H & I have gone to character meals alone. Usually Tusker House breakfast. The characters pick up on our cues and generally wave hello and move on, though I've seen them really play it up with adults when the adults showed interest.

Garden Grill is also a platter brought to your table. My sister and I and my hubby and I have done plenty of character meals pre-kid and we had lots of fun!

Thanks for the information. Not a huge fan of buffets. I either eat too much and feel miserable or I feel like I'm wasting money. There are bigger problems in the world...

I think we will stick to character meet and greets.

I ate at Cinderella’s Royal Table before having kids and I did feel a little out of place since every other table had children. The waiter kept calling me princess and I was give my own wand I decided not to eat there again until I had kids. This year we are taking my 4 year old daughter. In general though I don’t think it matters. I also ate at The Crystal Palace before having kids and noticed more adult only tables there for whatever reason.

I don't think anyone cares. This summer we'll be doing multiple character meals and the youngest person in my party will be 19.

I'll put it this way, if anyone cares that a group dines at a character meal without kids their opinion is one I don't care about.

Some of those with plated meals are very good meals. I'd go if the menu appeals to you.

No one cares, but I don't think the food is as good at buffets so we wouldn't go without little ones.

We go all the time to character meals. Just my husband and I. I see no problem with it. Your vacation do it your way

We do character meals all the time. My husband requested Akershus specifically on our last trip (at 21wks pregnant with first kid) and wants to go back this time with our 6mo son. So it really doesn't matter, character meals are for everyone. Granted, we've never done Hollywood and Vine with Disney Jr characters by ourselves, but any other meal? We're there!

My friend and I ate at Garden Grill and Akershus on our last trip. It was a fun experience and great way to meet characters. Had some fun conversations with the princesses in Akershus. They didn't spend as much time with us as the tables with kids but I never felt out of place. If anywhere gives permission to be a kid it's Disney!
