hi...my bf and I are 24 years old and although i have been to wdw 5 times, it's my bf's first trip (actually it's his first vacation anywhere, he was poor growing up and im hoping he will feel the "magic" of disney) I want to do something special for him, like take him to a character meal...but since it's just us 2 and no kids and we are in our 20s....is that wierd?

i mean, i know we can certainly make adr's and go but do people do this w/o kids? and do u still get character attention?

First of all, EVERYONE is a kid at WDW!

DH and I have done Donald's Breakfastasaurus and Garden Grill character meals and had a wonderful time. The characters seem to take their cues from you when there are no kids at your table. If you let them know they are welcome, they will play with you. Mickey cuddled my Pal Mickey at Donald's, and we got some of my favorite picture there.

The characters appear in costumes appropriate to the venue, so you can get wonderful pictures.

I hope you enjoy as much as we do!

My DH and myself are going back to Disney in January 2007. We have been twice before with children - this time we are FREE!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not in the slightest bit worried about going it as adults. We have seen in the past lots of adults at character meals and they have all had great fun! You will really enjoy it.

DH and I took countless trips before kids and we always scheduled at least one if not two character meals for each vacation!!!! :rotfl: My favorite is always the one @ our hotel (Beach Club) Cape may Cafe....

My DH and I did bfast at Chef Mickey's on our honeymoon. It was also DH's first trip to WDW. I would suggest Crystal Palace for a character meal. We liked that much better than CM.

I have been to WDW twice without kids. We are in our late 20s/early 30s and loved Chef Mickey's breakfast. We didn't really care if the characters came up to us and they did both times. It was actually really fun. We are trying Crystal Palace breakfast next time.

Absolutely go for it.....it's wonderful no matter what age - as long as he's up for it....if you can picture him being cuddled by Chip or Dale and enjoying it go for it! :cool1:

Not at all wierd (at least I don't think). But I'm old enough to be your mother, so maybe it's different. DH and I, just the two of us, have gone to 3 character meals, one other with his 78 yo mother, and I've even done one totally solo. I didn't feel out of place at any of them.

You'll have a blast! CM is fun (I know some don't like it, but we did) as is CP. It sort of depends on which characters you want to see. I've also heard good things about 'Ohana's breakfast, but I haven't done that one.

Scenario...Jan. 2006....Me (53), DH (53), DMIL (83 and first time to Disney World), DSIL (51), DD (23), DD's BF (23)....dinner at CP.....yes we did it, and yes we had plenty of character interaction....Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore! Fun time for all of us, and quite frankly......why do you care what other people think? have a great time, do what you want to do, and make your BF want to go back for more Magic!!!!! I've been solo to character meals when DH wasn't with me......no one thought it was strange, no one commented, other than the character's giving me extra time offering to sit and have dinner with me so I wouldn't be by myself......other diner's asked if I wanted to sit with them.....it's a magical place, where anything can happen, and dream's actually do come true! HAVE A WONDERFULLY MAGICAL VACATION!

I liked to hear the stories about dining solo since I have a character meal planned for myself on the upcoming trip. Not that I worried about too much, but it's still good to know.

I did brekkie at the Crystal Palce alone last time. My only fear was missing the characters whilst I went to get my food! There is always a lot of adults only in the Crystal Place. I'm hoping for Garden Grill next time.

thanks for all your input....im going to go for it.... as a surprise...i managed to hint around and find out that as a kid he liked Tigger and the Winnie the Pooh characters so we are going to try Crystal Palace. :cool1:

Congradulations on your trip first of all, I would think that the characters would joke around with the adults.
