Are there any Character 'dining events' within walking distance of Dolphin? We'll be taking my by-then 2 yr old grand daughter to WDW in March 2004 and I understand these things fill up quickly. Any advice on this entire subject would be appreciated as this is one thing we've never done.

I know there is a great character breakfast at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club, the best character breakfast in my opinion. There is one character breakfast a week at both the Swan and Dolphin as well as a character dinner at the Swan. I've never been to either, so I can't give much information about them. Also, if you want to make the walk to Epcot, there is a character lunch/dinner at Garden Grill.

jel0511 covered it all, I think. Just wanted to add that I agree that Cape May was the best character breakfast we've had. If dinner is more to your liking the Garden Grill is good, too. Although there were only adults in our party, the character interaction was good at both locations.

You are in a great location to take advantage of at least 3 character meals.

You can have breakfast at:
Cape May Cafe with Goofy and friends
Hollywood and Vine at MGM with Goofy, Minnie, Chip and Dale, and Pluto
Akersaus Fairytale Princess Breakfast with the Princesses

You can have lunch at:
Hollywood and Vine with Goofy, Minnie, Chip and Dale and Pluto
Garden Grill in Epcot with Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale

You can have dinner at:
The Garden Grille... same characters as above.

Also check with the Swam and Dolphin, as they used to have character meals only on certain days and certain times.

Have fun, and bon apetit!

Beach Club is the best breakfast I had at WDW. The best in all areas!

The closest would be Gullivers at the Swan. They offer character dinners with Goofy and Pluto or The Lion King characters. They offer a different buffet each night or you can order off the menu. We've been then several times and have always had a good meal. Last year we were able to take advantage of the 20% Disney Club discount on dinner. I'm not sure if that is still in effect, but it's worth checking into.

Enjoy!

Bill - we went to the character breakfast at The Coral Cafe at the Dolphin in Jun 02.
It is held only on Sunday. We thought it was the best character breakfast we had the whole trip (also did Cindy's, Breakfastosaurus, and Crystal Palace) Good selections on the buffet for adults and children.
Characters were Chip and Dale, Goofy and Pluto. It wasn't particularly busy, we weren't rushed through the meal (which is sometimes the case at park Bfast - they have a lot of people to get through in a few hours) and the character interaction was great. All the characters came to our table twice - DD (7) and DS (4) loved it.
Since we were staying at the Dolphin, wasn't the pressure to get through the meal and out to the parks either - so we could take our time.
If you are staying at the Dolphin and are there on a Sunday, I highly recommend The Coral Cafe.
