Character dining - December trip

For our trip this December we were hoping to visit Goofy’s Kitchen the evening we arrive, but with it still being closed and seeing all the theories about it (possibly) expanding, we may not be able to make that happen. I’m keeping an eye out either way for any updates to GK, but want to be prepared just in case.

So, since this will be our first trip to DLR in several years (and now with kids), I was hoping for some recommendations to your favorite character dining experiences outside of the park. Considering we won’t be arriving until late afternoon, I’m worried our options may be very limited

To be clear- in "beforetimes" there were 4 character dining experiences outside the parks:

-Goofy's Kitchen (Breakfast & Dinner at DLH)
-Donald's Seaside Breakfast at PCH Grill (at Paradise Pier)
-Princess Breakfast Adventures at Napa Rose (Grand Californian)
-Mickey Tales of Adventure Breakfast at Storytellers (Grand Californian)

There hasn't been any announcement about any character dining at DLR yet. But of the pre-closure options, there were already rumors that the $$$$ princess breakfast at Napa Rose was going to be cancelled before the closure. The PCH Grill at PPH has been announced that it will not reopen (at least in the same form) so it seem's Donald's breakfast would also be gone and there is no word on Goofy's or Storytellers character dining, though Storytellers IS open for non-character dining currently.

If you're arriving late afternoon Goofy's would have been your only option for character dining anyway. So I guess I'm not sure there's much to recommend for you until we have more announcements on the future of character dining at DLR.

I just hope we have some character dining options by December. For myself the planning is so enjoyable, and not knowing is hard.

Right, I should have said, assuming things are back to “normal” by then, as it is a possibility they may still not have character dining open end of year.

I’ve also considered dining at the park, with breakfast at the Plaza Inn with Minnie and Friends might be the only option I’m seeing…again, if they have it back by then

Any restaurants outside of character dining that you’d recommend for kids? Ages vary, 6-13, with a couple of very picky eaters in the bunch

Yes, Minnie & Friends was the only remaining in-park character meal as well- it was far and away the best for meeting lots of characters though personally I found the food to be mediocre. I liked the food better at Storytellers. We always had the best character interactions at the one at PCH Grill but food mediocre to bad. I found both food and characters to be just OK at Goofy's.
