character dining at the MK/AK...

can anyone tell me where the best character eating experience for a 3+ boy , that loves the main characters ( mickey, donald, goofy, pluto) that doesn't require a reservation ....we are going Nov 1-5 th...so I'm hoping I can be flexiable and not commit to one..will that work?

Last January I took my boys (ages 9 & 4) to the lilo & stitch breakfast at Ohana's at the polynesian. They LOVED it. (mickey & pluto were also there)

Donald's Breakfastosaurus at Restaurantosaurus was great and it had all the main characters you mentioned. I'm not sure about not having ressies, tho.

I suggest you make a reservation. You will not have much luck at CRT at this point it's very popular with people making ressies 180 days ahead for it.(why are you looking at a princess meal if he likes Mickey and the gang?). But Donald's or Liberty Tree should be able to acomadate you. He would probably like Donald's better.

We did Donald's Breakfastosourus in AK and loved it. We didn't make the reservations until we were on site but we did have reservations. I believe you will spend a great deal of time waiting without a reservation but maybe not. Probably depends on your timing.

so when you say timing....in regard to reservation are you talking... timing as in an hour before luch or NOV at DIsney in general...

What specifically happens at the Character Dining Experience...do they come out at a certain time, do they eat with you? Do they pose for pictures....how does it all go down...how long does it take...more more more give me more..Im excited!!!!!

No, LTT is character dining only for dinner.

THe reason I said you would have trouble getting into CRT is because it is very popular and people wake up at 6:55 AM to make ressies for that place 180 days in advance.

At Character meals the characters usually circulate around the room going from table to table. They pose for pictures, sign autographs. Depending on the location at the business of the restaurant they may spend more time at your table. Face characters like the princess will talk to your child, costumed characters will not. Some characters do not circulate but pose for photos in the lobby of the restaurant.

and at the AK Breakfastosaurus Donald, Mickey , Goofy, Pluto are there!

If you do not make reservations (or priority seating...is it still called that?), timing would likely impact your ability to get into a character breakfast. Some character breakfasts are also more popular than other (CRT, for example) and may be impossible to get into.

The characters go from table to table, sign autographs and pose for pictures. Do you have an autograph book for son? (Who likely won't know what an autograph is for but may want one b/c everyone else has them!)

Also note that some breakfast are buffet, some served family style and some are pre-plated table service. My DH prefers buffet as there is a wider range of food, it is all-you-can-eat and there is a little less "froo-froo".

Lots of choices...have you read the menus on allears.net or read the unofficial guide to WDW?

I made the reservation for 2 dates.. one at Libert Tavern and one at Ak Donalsaurus BReakfast or wehatever the heck its called. I didnt have to pay or anything..and I was told I could cansel no problem....so that was good!
