I thought I had got my decision made with Chef Mickey's for DS's breakfast on his 3rd birthday, but after a friend has returned and said how awful it was I have read some more reviews online and it appears to not get that many good ones - hit and miss at best.

So I have gone back to the drawing board, ideally I would prefer |Mickey and gang characters so I was thinking about Cape May Cafe?

What character breakfast experiences have you had and where would you recommend?

We did Chef Mickey's for my birthday last year and had no complaints whatsoever. I got my birthday cupcake from Minnie (she made an extra round exclusively for the birthday people) and we got plenty of time with the characters too. Loved it!
As for the food, I didn't really eat that much, but was happy with the food and options (unfortunately, I wasn't very hungry).

Thank you, that's what I mean, some people have had a great time there but a lot have said how bad it was, dirty, cold food etc.

I doubt that the kids will eat very much as they will be too excited but DH and I would like to fill up! :rotfl:

Thing is though, people will more easily write a review when something was bad than when it was ok.
I wouldn't hesitate to go again (although not going on our next trip, we have 3 other character breakfasts lined lined up!)

We had no complaints with Chef Mickey.
Admittedly there are restaraunts out there that have better food but we went in the knowledge that we were there for the characters, and the interaction with them was good in our experience.

We chose Chef Mickey's for our son's 7th birthday (2007). We advised at time of booking that it was his birthday and took along a gift for Mickey to give him. It was perfect, the food was plentiful and delicious. The waitress could not have made more of a fuss of DS and made sure that Mickey gave him his present and we had all the photo opportunities you could have ever wished for. He was given a badge to wear for the day and all autographs were birthday personalised.

I guess that some people have different expectations, but I can honestly say that we were entirely happy with no complaints at all. It is the only character breakfast you can get with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Chip and Dale together, so I guess it also depends on who your DS would prefer to see. If it's character interaction you want - Chef Mickey's did it for us. (Also had dinner that day at CRT in MK which was equally as good - Great interaction with Cinderella herself and again the waiter treated DS as a prince throughout the meal!)

For breakfast we have done Crystal Palace at MK. While it isn't Mickey its Pooh & Friends, the food is great and character interaction was awesome too.

One amazing one we did was what was called Donald's Breakfast-o-saurus which is now Donald's breakfast at the Tusker House in AK. The food is amazing, the characters are awesome and the outfits are original also. Would recommend as we are doing this on our trip too! We're also doing chef mickey's.

As someone has said, more people write bad reviews than good ones so maybe that is a reason why?

Myself and my wife have eaten at Chef Mickey's three times and always had a good time. Always a great atmosphere and food has always been good.
Our favourite is the Crystal Palace but that's mainly because my wife loves Tigger.

we have done chef mickeys and love it, i have it booked twice this year for breakfast and dinner

For our wedding we both got cupcakes and my birthday I got a cupcake as well

No complaints over food and never feel rushed

Going for our second visit to Chef Mickey's on Friday morning :yay:

We ate there for our last day breakfast and it was OK but we did feel rushed with the characters and the food was pretty average (as expected!) Doubt we'll go again until we have kids though it is somewhere I would recommend everyone make up their own mind about :)

Unfortunately Chip and Dale are no longer at Chef Mickey, they're my favourites but are only at the Garden Grill now... Good job they're easy to find round the parks :goodvibes

Do you know what..... I think I am just going to book it and see what happens, as some one said there is nowhere we can see Minnie and Mickey together, and that will satisfy both DD and DS.
Thanks for your help guys. :)

we had a poor meal at CM, have done CP which i love more every time we go, CRT which was IMHO over priced and over rated, tusker house, good but sloooow, bfast with stitch (our absolute fav, good food and excellent interaction)
you can see mickey and minnie together at the stitch bfast in cool hula costunes, and you get flowers
we are going to try akerhaus next year,
. pop over to the restaurant boards, but cape may gets constantly slated for poor food and service.

hab=ving done far to many charcter meals, i would say CM was the poorest, but thats just my opinion...

(please no one shout...:rolleyes1)

We have been to CM, TH, CP and Cape May for breakfast.

Without doubt everyone's experience will be different depending on how busy it is, how good your server is (or isn't in some cases!) and the character interaction.

At Tusker House on christmas day, although busy, the food was hot ans the characters great. The server wasn't - but we had a good time. we also went to Cape May - again the breakfast was ok - but the characters were rushed and our server spoke broken English - I think she had certain sayings off to a tee - like 'Mickey makes sweet juice'

I can say, that CP at MK always seems to do it for me - I think it's because it is in the MK and just seems special - breakfast or dinner!

I'm sure you'll have a good time - sometimes you just have to go with what you get and enjoy:)

Gem, we have had many lovely breakfast at Chef Mickey, one of our faves. However, our last experience (Christmas 2007) wasn't so good. There was a dreadful smell in there, many people were complaining. The cast members were putting it down to the construction at Bay Lake Towers, so hopefully the nasty smell has now gone away.

Another thumbs up for Chef Mickey's :thumbsup2

Myself and DBF did this on our last trip and loved it. We got some of our best character interaction at Chef's. We found the place to be clean and tidy too, well as best they can when it's a rolling breakfast of people in and out of the restaurant etc. I wouldn't say it was dirty though, at all.

We enjoyed the food too, not that I wanted to leave my table for fear of missing my beloved Chef Mickey! I was soooo giddy when he came over! DBF found he liked a lot of the foods on offer and I was quite happy as he had a good feed and it kept him going for most of the day afterwards :rotfl:

We wouldn't hesitate in going again at all, but next time it's O'hanas I think for us, I NEED to meet my Stitch

you can see mickey and minnie together at the stitch bfast in cool hula costunes, and you get flowers

I thought it was just Mickey with Stitch and Lilo (maybe Pluto aswell) at Ohana now. I remember reading that Minnie used to be there :)

Correct.
We went in June and it was Pluto,Mickey,Lilo and Stitch at Ohanas.

Out of Crystal Palace,Ohanas and Chef Mickeys,Chef Mickeys won hands down.:thumbsup2

oh no im gutted, no minnie...

Gem,i can't really recommend many character breakfasts as we have'nt done that many.BUT we done Chef Mickey's this Easter and we ALL thought it was fantastic. We was'nt rushed, the food was great, not cold, alot of choice, and the character interaction was great even though it was packed solid in there.I have no complaints whatsoever.x.
