I am sure this has been asked before, but I have been unsuccessful in doing a search on it. I also tried to access to sticky posted above, but the link was unavailable, so please forgive me for asking this again.
We are making our firt trip to the World in less than 25 days, and we have a couple of character dining ADR's scheduled. One for Crystal Palace, one for Chef Mickey's and one for 1900 Park Fare. The one that is most important to me is Crystal Palace because Pooh and his gang are my absolute fave. I know I am going to freak when I finally get to see them in person. But what I wanted to know was how the photo ops with the characters are? I think that I have seen a couple of pics where they actually take your picture at a certain place in the restaurant, like when you enter or something like that, and then there are times that you just take your picture on your own when the characters come around. I was just wondering if anyone could offer any info on what restaurants offer what ops. Also, I know this may sound like a silly question, but since it will just be the DH and I, no kids, will we still get time with the characters for phots and such?

The only one that I know of is chef Mickeys (thats the one we usually do)..

If you have a Disney Visa Credit Card from now until Sept. 30th you can access characters at innoventions. Its a character meet & greet and you get a 5x7 photo...free :Pinkbounc

We have eaten at all three (Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare, and Chef Mickey's). The characters all come around to your table and will pose with you for the photo opportunity. At Chef Mickey's while waiting to be seated Goofy was standing there greeting us and taking photo's with all in line. He did not come around to the table. The other characters (Minnie, Mickey, Chip & Dale) came around to our table. At Crystal Palace all of the characters (Pooh, Tiger, Eyeore and Piglet) came around to the table. Lastly at 1900 Park Fare Mary Poppins greeted us outsid eof the restaurant in the waiting area. We took pictures there with her and the rest of the characters came around to our table. Hope this helps!

Just back from our trip (Aug 6-11). It was myself, DH, DD (30) and our grandson (3). We did two character meals, breakfast at Hollywood & Vine and dinner at Chef Mickey. At Chef Mickey, Donald was greeting everyone as they arrived. They also have a spot where the entire group poses for a photo, then later they bring the package to your table. You have to pay extra for them if you want them. The characters came around several times and posed for pics with all of us...they took time at each table to interact as much as you wanted them to. We enjoyed the characters and got several good photos.

However, the food was disappointing, and for that reason I doubt that we will go back. If we do it will be for breakfast, not dinner.

Breakfast at Hollywood & Vine was great. We all went back for seconds, or even thirds. This character meal was geared more for my grandson since it was the Little Einsteins and JoJo's Circus characters.

DW and I always do character meals when we visit WDW. And we have no kids. and we love getting character pictures - and we've gotten some great ones at Chef Mickey and 'Ohana. The best tip I learned was to get the latest ADR you can for that morning (or evening). That way you have more interaction with the characters as it's at the end of meal! You don't have to fight with the next wave of people arriving because you're the last! We received great interactions with Stitch, Mickey, Chip & Dale, Minnie, Goofy...etc Plato even danced with one of our friends!

The food is average at Chef Mickey's and if it wasn't for an already full Intinerary of eating ( :goodvibes ) we'd include it on this trip. I really enjoy the food at 'Ohana breakfast - but maybe it's b/c they bring it to you, Stitch is there, and it was relatively less crowded (and less noisy) than Chef Mickey.

Also, since we had the late ADR at Chef Mickey, by the time we were done, everything was being packed up, etc...but the plate picture area was still out. So DW and I took turns taking a picture, using it as the backdrop and didn't need to pay for it! Of course, we both weren't in it together, but that's okay...

So have fun on your trip!!! And don't worry b/c we're all kids in WDW and the characters know that...sometimes they have more fun messing with the adults. ;)

HTH!

My family and I visited all three of these restaurants on our trip in December. It appeared that there was a deliberate attempt to make sure each character stopped at each table to interact with people. We were able to take pictures of all the characters with our kids and they also received autographs. All the tables were full every time we ate at these restaurants. At every meal, the characters actually made it past our table twice. So don't worry about chasing after your meal and the characters passing your table.

Don't worry about not having any kids. When at Disney, we are all kids. :)
