Here we go...my mom and I are going to be in the World the first week of November w/ free dining. We have made a whole bunch of ADR's for character breakfasts b/c it is 2 of our favorite things put together...breakfast food and disney characters!! We do, however, have to cancel one and I just can't decide which :confused3. I figured that you all would be up to the challenge and could help me out.

Here they are:
1. Cape May Cafe
2. Chef Mickey's
3. Tusker House
4. Ohana
5. 1900 Park Fare

Which one do you think would be the best for us to drop and why? Thanks in advance everyone! :goodvibes

While Cape May is the only one on your list we've never tried, I'd cancel Tusker House. I know some people rave about this one, but when we went last year is wound up being the one meal I would regret. The food was meh, the characters were all lackluster- like they needed more coffee, the service was spotty, and it was far from relaxing after sprinting from the entrance to try and make it to our 8:10adr (not our fault the buses were running horribly late). We've had very good experiences at 'Ohana, Chef MIckey's and 1900PF. Oh what I would do for a stick pecan roll from 1900PF right now!

Where are you staying? I've done Cape May, Chef Mickey's and Tusker House. All three had their perks! Cape May was a bit calmer, but the characters didn't give us adults that much attention. Chef Mickey's I did solo for a LATE breakfast and with the help of the family at the table next to me, had great character interaction but the food was so-so. Tusker House, I think, has the best food. Haven't been to the other two.

But - all that said - I'd judge it based on where you are staying and where you plan to go for the day. If you DON'T have a car - Cape May can be tough to get to for an early breakfast. Driving from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Chef Mickey's for breakfast on the day you plan to go to Hollywood Studios... time wasted on transportation.....

Oh - and which characters do you really want to see?

You have a few character meals listed that see the same characters a few times. That's not a problem for my family at all (we're character crazy) but it might make narrowing down a restaurant to get rid easier. I will say that we just got back recently and we really enjoyed Cape May and 'Ohana (as always)..

Tusker House will give you a chance to see Daisy, plus Mickey, Goofy, Pluto and Donald greets outside. Minnie can be found at Cape May with Goofy and Donald. Chef Mickey has the Fab 5. 'Ohana has Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch. 1900 Park Fare is the only place that has non-Mickey characters: Pooh, Tigger, Mary Poppins, Alice and Mad Hatter.

If the number of characters is important than Cape May would be the one I would drop as there are only 3 characters. However, we found the food to be very good. We like 'Ohana, but some people don't care for Lilo and Stitch.

We loved the Cape May breakfast. The characters looked so cute in their beach outfits. The food was really good and its just a really nice, calm setting. Also really liked the 1900 breakfast. Only eaten at Ohana's for dinner but people seem to rave about their breakfast & it seems like it would be a nice change from all your buffets.

Personally, I would cancel Chef Mickey's or Tusker House. At Tusker House we were seated a mile from the buffet in some small separate side room. It was such a pain to get food especially with 3 young kids. It was also really tough to get pictures as there was very little room between the table & the wall. The main room there is probably okay but its still huge & you can be very far from the buffet. The food was just okay and as a previous poster mentioned the characters just didn't seem that into it. Personally, we don't care for Chef Mickey's at all. We've only had dinner there but the place was packed and it just seemed dirty to us. The characters took forever to come around and the food was not good.

Thank you for all of the suggestions everyone! It's so helpful to get firsthand accounts of the different resturants and i appreciate you taking the time to tell me about your experiences. I looked over everything you guys said with my mom and we are deciding between cutting Chef Mickeys and Tusker House. I have been reading mixed reviews about both and am just not sure which way to go. On one hand, Chef Mickey's is always booked up and the fact that I was able to get an ADR makes me want to keep it. On the other hand, I have never eaten a TS meal at AK and the fact that we would get to meet Daisy is appealing too.

I'll have to look over our plans again...but I'm so happy i have narrowed it down to 2! Thanks for all the help - you guys rock! :cool1:

Tusker House is AWESOME! They have the best selection of food by far. The characters are great....plus, by going to tusker, you can get right on the safari ride ahead of everyone else! (if you time your ADR right).

I would drop chef Mickeys. I had the breakfast there and it wasnt that great. I was disappoinpted. I wasnt impressed with the quality of food and the selection. Plus the place was a lot dirtier than the others. i'd drop this one. No question about it.

Tusker, Ohana, 1900 PF, and Cape May are all wonderful breakfasts. Great food, great characters.

I would drop Chef Mickey's.
The characters there are also at other ones you have planned. When I eat there I always feel rushed with dining and the character greets. The others I never felt that. :) That would be my choice lol

Unlike some of the other PPs, we thought Tusker House had the best character breakfast we've been to. While the character interaction was very good, it was the food that we thought stood out over the others. We were also in a small room on the side, but I prefer that. It was nice & quiet in there. I will request that room next time.

If it were me, I'd cancel Chef Mickey's. Cape May would be my next choice for cancellation. It was fine. The food was fine, as was the character interaction. I just don't feel it's worth the hassle to get there, if you're not staying at an Epcot resort.

We've done all but Cape May. I'd cancel 1900 PF. Don't cancel Ohana! It was our best breakfast all week!

We have done all multiple times. I would drop the one that does not fit the best into your schedule. Honestly the food is almost the same at all and the character interaction is luck of the draw.

That said I would especially keep Tusker if you have an 8-8:15 ressie and are going to AK that day anyway. Chef Mickey's and the CR are iconic and are a must do once. We have always had good experiences at 1900 and Cape May. Ohana, while the food has been good, we have always had bad luck on the character interaction there.

Again, drop the one that requires the most time to get to or otherwise interferes with your park schedule.

Thanks again for all the help. Your opinions have helped so much! I think we are probably going to cancel Chef Mickey. After looking over our schedule, i think it makes the most sense out of the two. I am sure, however, that wherever we eat will be magical...we will be in Disney after all!! Thanks again and I will let you all know about out experiences when we return!

We’ve eaten at all of the restaurants you mentioned except of O’Hana. Our favorites are Crystal Palace and the Cape May Café. Although, like the PP stated, Cape May can be difficult to get to if you’re not staying at one of the Epcot resorts. You could schedule a later breakfast there on a day that you’re going to Epcot and cut through Epcot to get to the Beach Club. Tusker House can also be difficult to get to as the Animal Kingdom busses always seem to take forever. We went there once and had a great experience though.

Out of all of your choices, I would drop Chef Mickey’s. While their breakfast is better than dinner, our servers were pretty slow and the food wasn’t bad, but not as good as Crystal Palace and Cape May.

I personally would drop Tusker House. However, we had a late breakfast ADR (10:20am), so that was probably part of our bad experience. We waited forever to be called, until finally I went to the desk and asked if we might have accidentally been skipped, the lady at the desk said "probably", then she scrolled back down her list, and sure enough, they had forgotten to call us. So we were seated right away. By now it was even later, so the breakfast food wasn't being replenished, but the lunch food wasn't being brought out yet. Basically we made a meal out of whatever happened to be left over from the breakfast crowd. I tried to ask to have more sausage gravy brought out for the bisquits, but whenever I tried to get the attention of the person who was behind the counter, she would look at me and then immediately walk into the back room like she was intentionally avoiding me. So anyway, I don't plan on going back to Tusker House anytime soon.

We've tried them all in the past year and I have to say that I would cancel Chef Mickey. The character interaction we got wasn't great, the food was luck warm at best and I found the place not so clean. Our all time favorite is Ohana.
