We are going for our first trip to WDW in June w/ DD 5 and 3. I cannot decide if we should make an ADR at Mama Melrose's with the Fantasmic Dinner Package or at H&V character breakfast. Any recommendations? If we do the character breakfast (which the girls will love) we can still see Fantasmic, just with a longer wait. There are two shows scheduled for that day....what to do?

If your kids will love the characters then do it. You could always use a fastpass for Fantasmic! Character meals are great for first timers because if there is any hesitation on the child's part, the character can spend a little more time than standing in line later in the day.

I couldn't decide either, so we're doing both. :) We don't usually go to HS, and I think it'll be a one day thing for us, so it's our one day to fit in whatever we can there.

After trips with young kids, older kids, teens, and several different families as traveling companions we still love character meals. On the other hand, we've only ever seen Fantasmic once or twice. It was ok but just ok.

We're going this Summer with three families and 4 recent high school grads and we have 2 character meals booked. I have no idea if anyone in the group will see Fantasmic. I really doubt that I will.

This is a tough one. If you are doing a lot of character meals I would skip breakfast and get the dining package, I think Fantasmic is probably the best show you'll see in DW, and it is so much better in the center, hopefully close to the front.

If it's workable I suggesting paying for breaking out of pocket and putting the Fantasmic package on the DDP. Last time I went I was on the DDP but when I realized how cheap breakfast at Hollywood and Vine was ($17ish for an adult I think, you can find it online), I regretted not paying out of pocket and booking another character dinner.

The H&V character meal is a favorite of ours, and even though my kids are a little older than yours (now 4 & 7) they're big fans. Plus, it will save a lot of time if you want to meet Jake and Sofia (especially Sofia).

We will likely never do Fantasmic again. We went for the first time on our last trip (when the kids were 3 and 7) and it scared the crap out of both of them, after confusing the heck out of both of them! There is a large, scary dragon and a lot of fire at one point, but until then, the show really doesn't make any sense. I get that it's supposed to be a dream, but that's a pretty esoteric concept for young kids and they really had no clue what was going on through most of show. My kids aren't typically scared of things, but that show did them in. I wouldn't pass up a chance to meet the Disney Junior characters for Fantasmic, but clearly many people with kids enjoy it.

I wold 100% do H&V! With kids that ages especially. Disney Jr characters are a big hit and frankly, my young kids were scared at F!
