Character breakfast food questions

Reading these boards, I get the impression that not all character breakfasts are created equal as far as the food goes. For example, Tusker House, Cape May, and Crystal Palace all generally get better reviews than Chef Mickey’s.

Does this difference extend even to basic items at the buffet (e.g., bagels, pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal, Mickey waffles, etc.) that take little or no skill for the restaurant staff to prepare?

For example, if I grab a Danish at Chef Mickey’s, is it less likely to be as good or fresh as a Danish I grab at say, Cape May or Tusker House?

Or is the difference more in food items that take relatively more effort and skill for the restaurant staff to prepare and keep fresh (e.g., eggs, breakfast potatoes, etc.)?

And does the difference have more to do with quality or variety (or is it some combination of the two)?

I thought the food was basically the same for breakfast at CP and CM - Mickey waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, assorted pastries, etc. CP seemed more organized to me. CM seemed sort of chaotic and I felt more rushed there. Still worth it to see the characters.

My family just did Chef Mickey's, Cape May and Crystal Palace for character breakfasts in September. As far as the pastries go.. For the most part they are the same if not really similar. I found the variety to be good at all three but I will say the freshest (at least for that breakfast) was Cape May. However, my daughter loved, loved her chocolate croissant at Chef Mickey's. That's saying something for her.

I thought the overall quality and freshness was the best at Cape May. We saw the offerings being refilled often and it seemed very clean. Second would be Chef Mickey's. I often read how Chef Mickey's doesn't get a lot of love, but we have gone almost every trip and have always had good, fresh food. Crystal Palace was our biggest disappointment of the trip, but in past trips we have found the selections to be very good.

I think Cape May's hot dish variety was my favorite. I absolutely loved the vegetarian frittata and my two year old actually ate eggs here. That's not something she does. The asparagus on the buffet was a nice touch as well. I also liked that they offered not only oatmeal but a quinoa porridge.

1900 Park Fare also has a good breakfast in my opinion. The omelet station is really nice and I like the set up for the bagels. Also you are able to get their wonderful strawberry soup at breakfast. The cheese blintzes were also a hit with my husband and son.

If you haven't already you might want to take a look at the menus online for an idea of what is being served at each location. I honestly think that the resort character breakfasts are generally better in both taste and quality than the ones offered at the park.

I can't speak to food quality but I did think Tusker House had the biggest selection. I loved the section with the "African flair" type foods, and also the quiches and frittatas were great. Also the only character breakfast I went to where they had donuts

We just did breakfast at Tusker House today and it was wonderful! There was a lot of variety as the previous poster mentioned. My son has a food allergy and I greatly appreciated the chef coming out and going through the stations with me to let me know what he needed to avoid. He even made up a special batch of mickey waffles with no dairy!
