Ok, I've done a character breakfast before, I loved it. But I've seen people talk about their experiences at Boma, and I like what they say.

I know they are completely different, but I'm just trying to figure out what the general public thinks...

If I go with my boyfriend then either one is kinda iffy. I can see he wouldn't want to do a character breakfast because it would be too childish (he doesn't understand the magic of Disney!). And I can see him avoiding Boma because of the eccentric (if you will) food.

If I go with my mom, and sisters, I believe both are fair game. Course, they might want to do the character breakfast, cuz thats part of the fun of being in Disney. But I plan the trip, I make the choices. ;) jk.

Lemme know what you think.

First off - dump the non-believer BF!
:p;)
{just joking!}

Second,
Having done both, I would do both again. I think it basically depends on if you want a Character Experience or not.

As far as Boma's offering being too eccentric - while everyone's tastes are different, personally I have not found their offerings to be very far 'out there'. Besides, this is Disney, and there are plenty of "normal" items to choice from at Boma's - so I wouldn't let that put off your BF.

They are both good! Depends what experience you are looking for. Chef Mickey's is fun for the kids and we do it every trip. It's loud, silly, and we all enjoy it. Boma's is good too. The food is real good and definately not too "out there". I was concerned with that the first time we went also. Loved the peanut rice and the dessert spread was great!
Good luck whatever you decide!

I have done both and since you are going with adults, I'd do Boma. The food is fantastic. Even though it's buffet, the food doesn't taste like typical buffet food. I like Chef Mickey's, but since you aren't traveling with any children, I'd definitely go with Boma.

We've done both dinner buffets and liked both for different reasons. We love Chef Mickey's because to us, it's got the "Disney feel". We always eat there on our first night. We go with kids, but I could see my dh and I there even w/out our kids!

We tried BOMA last trip for the first time and really liked it a lot. We are pretty adventurous eaters, but I have to say that there wasn't anything there that was WAY over the top. The meats were very tasty and nothing real weird. There were a couple of sides and salads that I wouldn't try again, but that's the beauty of a buffet. You can take a tablespoon of everything and eat only what you like if you wish. Plus, the desserts were very very good...loved that coconut tiramisu.

If you can fit in your schedule and your budget, I'd try both if I were you!!

Have fun!

If I could only chose one, it would be Boma's hand down. Not only will you have a great dinner, you can explore AKL which is lots of fun.

If you can only choose one, I'd say Boma as well. There are a number of meats that I would think would appeal to someone who is not adventurous. They are flavored with spices, but not spicy. Of course, I'm biased - Boma's in our favorite restaurant on the planet! ;)

I'm not crazy about Chef Mickey's. We much prefer 1900 Park Fare for a character breakfast. The food is much, much better (at least in our experience) and you still get to visit with the characters.
