character breakfast advice needed

We are going to WDW in late summer and would like to take our 1-year-old to a character breakfast. It seems, from what I've read in the Unofficial Guide, like either Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace might be our best choice because of the lower character-diner ratio. Does Crystal Palace have the same sort of character interaction (singing, parading around room, etc.) that Chef Mickey's does? Does one of these restaurants have better food? Which of these two would you all recommend, or am I missing the boat entirely and is there a better character breakfast out there? Many thanks in advance.

We have done Crystal Palace several times and love it and that is why we keep going back there. No, we don't have small children - but the kids we see there seem to have a wonderful time.

The characters come to your table, they do a little song/dance together about once every 30 minutes or thereabouts and the food is some of the best we've ever had as far as a buffet goes.

If you feel like you want Mickey to be there then don't choose Crystal Palace as it is all Pooh themed.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of these choices. I would be inclined to go with the one that has the characters your 1 year old would enjoy the most. Have fun!!

My sons loved Crystal Palace when they were 1 and 3. Yes, they play a song and the kids swing their napkins in the air.

That being said, we also like Chef Mickeys and we're going back there in May. My sons are almost 6 and 8 and they don't want to eat with Winnie the Pooh anymore. Chef Mickey's seems a little more chaotic to me.

We loved Crystal Palace and I think it's great for toddlers!

I have eaten at the Crystal Palace a number of times and have always enjoyed it. The food is excellent!

I have never been to Chef Mickey's, but that is only because I can never seem to get a priority seating...its that busy. That might tell you something about it's quality.

The plus of the Crystal Palace is that it's inside the Magic Kingdom, as opposed to Chef Mickey's.

If you want to do a character breakfast on a morning that you are going to Animal Kingdom, I greatly suggest Donald's Breakfastosaurus. The food is great and the cast members are very entertaining.

We done almost every character breakfast, and they are all great. CP is a more calm atmosphere than Chef Mickey's, but I would recommend making your choice on the location that's most convenient, based on your plans for the rest of the day, since the travel to and fro will take the biggest toll on you and your child. It's all good!

I really think at age 1 you should do the meal which has more of your childs favorite characters.

No, the atmosphere at Crystal Palace is much more subdued than the fun singing etc. at Chef Mickey and we prefer the food at Chef Mickey. But you will also find just as many people that will think the opposite. I'd go with which characters your little one would enjoy the most Pooh or Mickey.

Another idea for a character breakfast is Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. The characters are Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale. Wonderful breakfast buffet and great character interaction. It may not be as busy as some of the more popular character breakfasts, so the characters tend to spend a bit more time with your kids

Crystal Palace is great! It is a must do for us every trip. However, we are also trying Chef Mickey's next time.

Cape May was outstanding.

for what it is worth. crystal palace is large and although we enjoyed the food, we didnt get to see pooh. he never made it to our table. we have been to cape may, ohana, cp, and psb, and the character interaction at cp was the worst. just our experience.

We have been to each of these character breakfasts on previous trips and have enjoyed them both. I would say it just depends on which characters your child would prefer. We are going back to both places for the character dinners on our next trip and trying 'Ohanas character breakfast this time. Enjoy whichever you choose.

We really like both. Chef Mickey's is more of a "party" atmosphere. Crystal Palace is a little more subdued. CP felt less hectic. Although the food was good at both, I like CP better. Overall, DS likes both, but prefers CM because of the parades and napkin waving.

I pick based on which set of characters you/your kids like best.

We had by far the best character attention at Cape May, 1900 Park Faire would be second, and Chef Mickey's last. Haven't done Crystal Palace.
