I know that as a character attendant you are mainly stationed in one park but can potentially pick up shifts at all four parks. But what about water parks and resorts? I know they have some characters in the water parks occasionally and resorts have character meals so can CPs work at either of these places or is that only for regular CMs?

I have had plenty of friends who worked at resort character dining locations as character attendants during their CP. I've never heard of a CP attendant working at a water park, but that's just because there are only 1 or 2 characters there a day so there are very few shifts there. However, there's no reason why you couldn't pick up a shift there if someone was giving it away :)

You probably won't be scheduled as many shifts in character dining because they're popular with full-time CM's because of the steady schedules that come with them. You'll get them sometimes because those CM's have days off or they may get pulled to another position that requires some special training that they might have like float driving or something. There are also less attendents at a time in character dining. There might be 2 attendents for 5 characters compared to a meet and greet like Camp Minnie Mickey where there's an attendent for each character.
You can pretty much be scheduled for anything that doesn't require specific training but you'll start to notice a trend in the shifts you get and the shifts you don't get.

Thank you both! I figured that resorts would be more popular with regular CMs, I just thought it would be a cool experience to pick up a shift at a resort once or twice. Do any of you know about working in restaurants in the parks? Thanks for the information!!

For me at least, I found it was a lot more common for myself and CP's to be scheduled at character dining locations in the parks. My home park is Epcot, and I did get the chance to work at the Garden Grill and Akershus in Norway during my CP. I also had friends who worked a bunch of times in character dining locations at other parks, such as Crystal Palace in MK or Hollywood and Vine in DHS. It is still much less common to be scheduled at those locations, since there are way fewer attendants in a restaurant than there are at other park locations, but it can definitely happen! Like progroupie said, you well get a feel of where you'll typically be scheduled. I was "bid" at one location in Epcot for literally more than four months during my CP, but others had schedules where they would typically be at one location on Monday, and somewhere else on Tuesday...

Thanks guys! Your information was super helpful. I'm sorry, but one last question!! What park did you guys prefer to work at and why?

My first 2 choices were DHS and MK- DHS because of the hours, a lot of my friends work there, and I enjoyed working with the Power Rangers (no longer out). I like working at MK because of the locations.

Really, I don't mind any of the 4 parks personally

Joanna, what were your hours like in DHS?

At DHS, I was with the Playhouse Disney characters 95% of the time. So the shift was aprox 10-6. The majority of locations are morning/afternoon. The only late ones are Mickey in Animation and the Toy Story characters. Everyone else is done by 6:30 (if not earlier).
