My lips are falling off!!

I swear, I've tried carmex, blistex, burt's bees, etc etc ETC!!!! They stay chapped as cowboy's rear end!

Is there some home remedy I can try?? (something that won't burn/sting is preferable)

I know that so many DISers are a wealth of information--and not just about Disney! Help!

Neosporin has a lip balm in a pot that worked wonders for DD last year when she was sick, feverish & a chapped mess.

I just got over the flu and my lips were chapped worse than they'd ever been in my life! I got a tube of plain vaseline (sold with chapstick) and just applied constantly. It took a few days, but then they were back to normal.

Drink more! Chapped lips can be from being dehydrated. When you are low on fluid in your body the lips is one of the first places it shows up.

Johnson's baby cream before bed. Really.

like, the lotion??

I'm not sure I've seen that...is it sold with the other lip balms?

Vaseline. :)

yuck but if it works....

okay I got another vote for vaseline.

I feel like my lips are never "normal". It seems like they're always typically some form of chapped, but right now they are just HORRIBLE. I don't think my lips are ever truly perfectly soft. Someone told me I kiss my husband too much...:confused3:rotfl:

Drink a ton of water!!

Vaseline helps too. I also LOVE Palmer's cocoa butter formula swivel stick:

d'oh. You're probably right!!!! I need to drink more water all around....I just get tired of getting up to pee so much

Try Aquaphor. Our Dd's lips were badly chapped earlier this Winter and we've been using Aquaphor and it's really helped. It will take a couple of days for it to really get working since your lips are already chapped, but after that, you should be ok if you use it on a regular basis.

I soooo wish I could pick that up off the screen right now! It looks like it would be soothing....

Yes, the Neosporin was with the other lip balms.

The other poster was right about dehydration. Try to get in the habit of more water if your lips are chronically dry.

Something else that might help is olive oil. Sounds kind of nutty, but it does help, you probably already have it in the cupboard and it's natural.

I use Aquaphor ointment 2-3 times per day, and gently exfoliate with a wet washcloth 1-2 times a week. Don't lick your lips or rub them together too much. Aquaphor is my friend, have tubes all over the house. Use it on hands, feet, elbows, etc.

When my lips are chapped I prefer regular Neosporin ointment (not the cream) over the Neosporin lip balm.

I will use the Neosporin lip stuff when my lips are very severely chapped (it improves them practically overnight!). Things like chapstick and petroleum jelly will *not* heal your lips. It will coat them, but the skin will not absorb the ingredients and therefore, they are not all that helpful to actually improving the skin.

Drink lots of water!! Peeing is a pain, but look at this way, you're burning more calories with every trip to the bathroom. (Its really not that bad after your body gets used to it.)

For normal maintenance, I use a lip scrub and a natural lip balm. (I love LUSH's products, but its easy to make a lip scrub at home and its much easier now to find a natural lip balm.) I look for things with natural oils in them - the skin will absorb them and become much softer and not crack as much in the winter weather. (As opposed to just coating the problem.)

Already to page 2 and on one has recommended Chicken Poop? :rotfl2:

I cannot say I have tried it, but to each his own!!!

I love plain lip gloss, no wax, just the oily kind...no color, no sparkles...It has worked best for me by far and does not sting. I use Mary Kay lip gloss instead of lipstick on a daily basis and it makes a huge difference in my lip health.
