Here is my little dilemma-
I've been invited to a Chanukah dinner on Thursday at the home of a friend. When I asked if we could bring anything, I was told not to, but I feel funny showing up without anything. I'm not jewish, and don't even know what would be appropriate to bring. However; I do know they don't keep kosher. Suggestions anyone?? Thanks for your help!

Are your friends Orthodox? If so they may be keeping kosher and it would be hard to for you to bring a product that they will feel comfortable with.

Otherwise, believe or not, anything fried or cooked in oil would be appropriate such as donuts. A great deal of donuts are consumed during this holiday. Fried chicken would also be good (if you are dealing with a strictly kosbher household, KFC will not be appropriate in that their chickens are not kosher).

Another idea would be wine. Most Jewish celebrations have wine for the adults. If the family you are visiting is Kosher, then there are some decent kosher wines out there.

Enjoy your meal and have fun playing dreidel and eating latkes.

A nice bottle of kosher wine or a bouquet of flowers should be ok. You can probably find kosher wine at a supermarket near you. A bottle of Baron Herzog Merlot or Chardonnay will make a nice gift.

If your friends don't keep kosher (which I believe you said they did not), then any bottle of wine or dany kind of essert would be fine - think of it as you would being invited to anyone else's hourse for dinner.

donuts are traditional, but a cake would be nice too. wine is good. any other type of hostess gift you'd bring for a dinner would be good.

Godiva has boxed chocolates with Chanukah decorations on the ribbons.
