Chankanaab park beaches?

Hi! I am planning on booking the Dolphin Encounter directly through Dophin Discovery and taking a taxi to Chankanaab. The Encounter isn't until 2:30 so I thought we could enjoy the beach and sites at Chankanaab before the dolphin experience. How are the beaches and facilities there? I will be with DH, DD6 and DS-4mos, Only DH and DD are doing the Encounter. Any feedback appreciated.

It's a wonderful place. There's excellent snorkelling, beautiful beach, a restaurant, and botanical garden.

I am interested in hearing also....I am booked on the Dolphin Discovery "Adventure" and my almost 18 yr old son and his gf will be at the park and beaches while I do the adventure. I have seen pictures and it looks beautiful....but interested to know facts......

It's an excellent place to spend the day, something for almost everyone. Besides the dolphins, we really liked the small inlet beach area for our children which was very close to the dolphins. We also enjoyed the sea lion show (go to the early show, it got very crowded as the day went on). We also enjoyed the snorkeling. You just walk into the water and snorkel right there. It is also a nice place to walk around a bit and/or get something to eat. The only thing that it does not have is a large classic sandy beach with walk-in entry point to the water (except for the small inlet for kids). Instead, there are several short stairwells that you walk down to enter the water. Just remember, try to get there early because it does get crowded.
