Changing SW Flights

We've been hoping to change to an earlier flight on our arrival day and today I noticed that the flight we've been watching has dropped in price. However, I can only get 3 tickets at the cheap price and then the other 2 I need would be at a price that's about $15 higher, which is fine. My question: is it possible to switch my flights so that I do 3 of us at the cheap price and then the other 2 at the higher price? When I went into the change flight option, it gave me the higher price since I have 5 tickets on the itinerary.

You'll have to split the reservation into two reservations before you can make changes. You'll have to call Southwest to do this. Then make the changes online, not on the phone (you'll be charged for a phone change).

Will having the reservation split into 2 different reservations cause me any issues and will I lose the EBCI that I paid for?

No and no. Just be sure to change the flights, not cancel them and rebook.
