Changing SW Flight time question/credit

I originally booked a Nonstop flight out of BDL 6:00AM to MCO and now I see one at 8:45AM for less. Once we switch to the later flight we end up with 48.00 difference, where does that go? Thanks.

You receive a credit back as a Southwest voucher to be used toward a new flight (valid for one year from the original purchase date). These are distributed per passenger and are tied to each person's name. So you can't bundle them all together to use for one person on another flight.

2 important points with Southwest credit

Tickets booked with Southwest travel credit must be for flights that will be completed 1 year from the date the original ticket was booked.
If original tickets were booked on 5/1/17, tickets booked with the travel funds must be for travel dates before 5/1/18.

Tickets booked with travel funds inherit the date of the originally booked ticket as their purchase date. This is one to be careful about.
