Changing ressies ?

I do not know all the ins and outs of DVCing. I need some help. I made reservations for a 2BR BWV Memorial Day weekend, Thursday til Tuesday to celebrate graduation. Now, one of the other 2 girls who was going with us, and staying at the Swan, has decided she's not going. So, I would like the one who is going, to stay in a studio by us, instead of by herself at the Swan. If I cancel Thurday night in the 2BR and add a studio for Friday til Tuesday, I will just have to borrow a few points. Will I get any kind of penalty for changing my reservation? I am not going to cancel anything until I am 100% sure everyone is going, because my use year is June, and I am under the impression that I would have to use any changed points by June 1st. Is this true?

Aunt Sue -- Aren't you a sweetie! Let me see if I can help walk you through this.

1. You can cancel and change reservations with no penalty up until 31 days before you check in.
At that date if a cancellation is made, the points go into a "Holding Account". These reservations can only be made 60 days in advance and must be used by the end of your Use Year, May 31, 2002.

2. Since you are going in May and your Use Year ends May 31, you want to avoid last minute changes since you won't be able to bank points.

3. Any points you borrow for this trip must be used by May 31, 2002. The same with any points that aren't banked by the end of March.

Your banking deadlines are end of November for 100% of points; end of February for up to 50% of your total points; end of March for up to 25% of your total points. For example, if your yearly total of points is 200 you can bank all 200 before the end of November; 100 points by the end of February and 50 points by the end of March. If you bank 100 points in January, that is it for the year. You can't do an additional 50 by March.

Thanks a bunch Pam, but apparently I won't need to change anything. My guide had been on vacation, and called this a.m. to tell us we were picked in the lottery, so now I will have enough points for everyone to stay at BWV all 5 nights. Now I just have to hope a studio is available, but again, I will wait until it is definite since I would lose those points if not used in three days. Thanks again.
