Ok. We made our reservation for a 2 br at our home of OKW. We are a family of 5 and I would rather stay at Poly or GF but we might have 2 or 3 others come along. If it turns out no one is going with us will they let me change ressie to one of those hotels if available? And how close to the time do I have to make a decision? <IMG SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif" alt="confused">

I think the answer is yes, but you have to do it more than 30 days before the trip to have your points reinstated. I would check on availablility of the GF or Poly before you try to do that. Have you stayed at OKW yet? If not, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the accomodations and wont be as anxious to go back to a hotel room. If it is proximity to parks you think you will miss, that could be a problem, however, we don't mind the bus system and usually have a car that we can take to the other resorts if we wish to dine elswhere. We also like to take advantage of the walkway to DD from OKW.

To reserve a hotel outside of DVC (Poly, GF) you must do so greater than 60 days from arrival. You can cancel your 2 bedroom up to 31 days prior to arrival, and points will be returned to the use year they were taken from. Hope this helps.

also....if you are 60 days or less from the end of your Use Year when you try to make a non-DVC reservation for within that time period...no can do. They need the 60 days to rent out a DVC accomodation to "pay" for your trade.

Why did you join DVC if you would prefer to stay at Poly or GF over a 2-bedroom at OKW? If you haven't tried it yet, I have to agree with Diane that I expect you to be quite surprised.

According to the guidebook, you can make a Disney Collection reservation up to 48 hours before arrival (except Disneyland Paris = 14 days). You cannot make a reservation in the last 60 days of your use year for an arrival less than 60 days before the end of the use year.

DebbieB..I believe you are correct..Sorry about that..the 60 days is prior to the expiration date of the points you will be using (use year involved) Good catch! thanks
