Changing ressie after online checkin?

I have a waterview room booked at CR, but that was my third choice room category so I have been calling periodically to see if a standard or preferred room (my first two choices) opens up.

In the meantime, thanks to the new online checkin policy of 60 days out, I can check in online.

Should I wait to check in on line since I am still trying to change room categories? Or would it have no effect?

That is an excellent question!

But just to be safe, if I were you, I would not do the online check-in.

You could probably change the day before if you wanted to. Online checkin does not lock you into a particular room. All it does is allow the resort to get your paperwork prepped in advance. And they only do the paperwork a day or so before you get there.

If you have specific room requests on your reservation, I wouldn't recommend online checkin anyway. Not because it might affect the chances of you getting your request (it won't) but because having to ask for a different room if your request isn't granted (and then needing to redo all the paperwork) just defeats the purpose of online checkin.
