Hi Everyone,

I know a lot of you have done this, so I am hoping you can help. We are staying in BCV for the first few nights at WDW, than moving to AKV. We have to check out of BCV by 11am, but can't check in AKV until I beleive 3pm? Can we just go and leave all our stuff at the desk? And would we just get a taxi to take us there?

Thanks:goodvibes

I changed resorts once and what I did was called the night before to bell services and requested to have my bags sent to the our next resort, which they did the next morning then we caught a bus to a theme park and then to our resort. I also heard that Disney has a van that can take you to your next resort but you might want to confirm that with reservations.

Right. You can either give your luggage to the BC front desk and have it transferred, then go to AKL later, or have a reservation made for transportation. It's the same system that brings you from the airport for free. Have fun! Those are our two favorite resorts!

Also, you can always check in early - they just might not have a room yet. But sometimes they do!

And if you don't want to give up your bags for a few hours, you could take a taxi there, check in, and leave your bags with Bell Services - at least then you can get into them easily enough if you need to.

Take Carrie's advice to check in early and take your luggage with you and leave it at bell services at AKL. We have had our luggage transferred by Disney a few times (even before the following example) and most of the time for us it's been a headache. Our wedding day, we sent an overnight bag via Bell Services from the BW to GF. When we got to the Grand (it was midnight) we had to wait a good 45 min. after being in our room b/c the bellhop "couldn't find them". Since we had a Farewell Brunch at Whitehall that next AM, we had our overnight bag from GF and all the rest of our luggage from BW sent to our new room @ CBR. (our resort before we flew out for our "honeymoon".) Our luggage came in 2 trips (obviously) but the pieces from the GF didn't get there till 10pm. And unfortunately I was sick and miserable and those bags had my toiletries! So, I'm sure ours was an extreme case, but nonetheless in the future I will save the headache and take it all over myself whenever I can. (Not trying to be a Debbie Downer- just my experience) :thumbsup2

I'm glad you shared your experience! We want to go to the park in the morning, but will need a change of clothes around 4:00 to get ready for dinner and La Nouba. I would be very upset if I had to wear my park clothes all night!! I think it will be worth the taxi $$ to know where my stuff is!

I would just take my luggage myself and try to check in early. Whether or not they have a room ready you can still leave your luggage with them and enjoy the parks.

Disney doesn't guarantee your luggage will get to your resort until after 4pm if they transfer it- so definitely go for the cab! :thumbsup2

Dunno how long you are staying and if it fits in your budget, but we always rent a car, and we've never paid more than about $150. The DIS Transportation board usually has a thread for each month of the year where people post rate codes for all the car rental places. Once I only paid $40 for four days! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the advice.:goodvibes We are both just shy of 25, so we would have to pay other fees (for apparently being too young) on top of the normal price. We are hoping to go back to Florida to use our APs before they expire, so I will definitely look into it than!

When we moved from POP to POFQ the day before our wedding, we had Bell Services take care of the majority of our luggage, then my mum and dad came and picked us up to drive over to POFQ. We checked in right away, and they had a Garden view King room ready and, as it was for our wedding, they upgraded us, which was a really nice surprise! So, we were probably in our room at about 11am, although we had planned on not being able to get in. That day we were due to do some shopping at the Florida Mall, get nails done etc.

So, we had planned for not being able to get in the room but in the end we were able to! Incidentally, I believe this was also the first day of free dining for US visitors (August 16th) - checkout at POP was chaos but there was no wait at POFQ to check in!
