We are going to Disney this July!
We currently have reservations at ASMo the first 3 nights, before we check into SSR for 7 nights! CM's have told me that they will move all of our luggage!

Has anyone here changed resorts in the middle of their stay? Is it difficult?
Should I trust them to move valuables, such as a laptop?! Do I get ticket bag claim?

Thank you

Welcome to the DIS, Tink-n-Peter!

I have had Disney move my luggage between resorts many times. I pack my bags in the morning, and call bell services to pick it up. They will ask which resort you are moving to, and give you a claim check. They will store your luggage, and move it later in the day. I usually go to the second resort to check in after "official" check in time, and my bags are already there. Give bell services your claim check, and they'll bring it to the your room.

I have not had a problem with laptops or valuables. I usually put them inside my locked suitcase. I personally do not travel with my lap top in a bag that looks like a briefcase.

Last Dec we moved 3 times. Where only to move twice. Stayed at CSR, got in late on friday they put us in a smoking rm, only one available. We did not complain, Will never do again it was bad, I smoked for years stopped 14 years ago, this rm was bad. They moved us on sat. Sunday we moved to OKW.

Yes, I've moved several times when I've been solo, thus no car. They'll take your luggage-either come to your room (I'd recommend calling Bell Services the night before to arrange a time) or a couple times, when I just had one rolling suitcase, I dropped it off at Bell Services on my way to a park. Then, when I was done at the park, take the bus to the new resort, check in, then call Bell Services at the new resort and they delivered my luggage. Very easy!

We just split our stay, 5 nights BCV, 5 nights BWV and I was surprised how easy it was. I thought I would hate packing up in the middle of the trip, but we did a couple of things to make it easier. We packed the clothes we wore the first half in one suitcase and the rest in another that we slid under the sink and didn't even open. We also brought a big, cloth laundry bag with a drawstring. Instead of repacking our dirty clothes, we put them in the laundry bag and added it to our luggage, ready to be washed when we moved to our 1 bedroom. We also tried to hold off buying any souvenirs until we moved. The only things we had to pack were swimsuits, our stuff to get dressed and a few groceries. We were able to put all the groceries in our extra suitcase and didn't have to mess with a bunch of sacks. We did have some milk, juice, and bacon that we put in a separate bag. We let the bellman know that they needed to stay cold. It was so easy we will definitely continue to split our stays.

slp87...you brought up the exact topic I was searching for..."what if I have cold stuff that needs to be moved?" I take it that the cold items you had moved were just fine when you arrived at the new resort? No spoilage or anything? I'm still a bit leary about this part of our move...we're going from YC to SSR during our July trip and with the weather that time of year I'm just not sure. Dsis, who'll be with me, and I are debating to just grab a cab and take the things with us...it won't be much, but at least I'll know that it goes into the cold storage more quickly...I would hope. Any comments or thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

No problems at all! We had milk, orange juice, bacon, and a package of refrigerated cinnamon rolls. All were very cold when they arrived in our room.

We did it last trip. The one thing that hasn't been mentioned was that we packed a day bag with our swimsuits. We left BWV with our luggage in the hands of the Bellhop and went and spent the morning at AK. Around 1:00 we went and checked in at AKL and spent the afternoon enjoying their pool. However, our luggage wasn't there when we checked in - I had swimsuits in our daybag.

If you were going to spend all day in the parks, this wouldn't be an issue. I think our luggage showed up around 3:00.

We actually made our move day a water park day. We weren't in a rush to get somewhere early and could sleep a little later and take our time getting out of the room. We also were able to go ahead and check in at BWV (of course it was just a walk across the lake for us).

We were actually thinking of going to a water park the day we move to. It will be a lot easier to beat the July heat while homeless.

Thank you all for your help and advice!
