Changing resorts last minute?

Hey everyone,

I have reservations at POFQ 4/28-5/2, but I just decided that I'd rather pay the extra and stay at Poly. Two questions....

1) Will they allow it?
2) If they do allow it, would I lose my fast passes because the theme park tickets were part of the package for POFQ?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Edit: Also, I know if allowed, there would be a $200 penalty and I'm okay with that.

If there's availability at the Poly, they'll let you switch resorts. I did something similar when I was there last summer. I didn't lose fastpasses or anything and I only had to pay the difference.

Great! Did you switch by calling or did you do it at the resort?

If you call and change it, there will be no penalty. There is, technically, a $50 change fee, but it's typically waived if your new package cost is higher, which it will be. This will be considered a modification, not a cancellation, so there is no $200 cancellation penalty.

Awesome, thanks for the insight. When I contacted my dreams unlimited agent she told me I couldn't change within 48 hiurs of the trip and any change would result in a $200 fee. Thanks to you all for clearing this up for me.

One other question... Do I pay the difference or does the resevation gets cancelled and I have to wait for a refund and pay the full balance of the new hotel?

You'll just pay the difference.

I think you will love the Poly. I hope you can make the change because i was always under the impression that if a reservation was made by a TA that TA had to make all changes.

This. Now that the OP has mentioned a TA, they may be stuck waiting until they get there to see about moving, because you are right. I was not even able to change my flight information with DME when American changed it all again - they said that since it was through a travel agent, anything other than ADRs or FP+ had to go through my agent.

Right. The DU agent would have to do it prior to check in. There may be some rule of theirs that prohibits changes that close to arrival. One more reason to do it yourself....

Or, just shoot a quick email to your TA and let him or her do the legwork. Sometimes I just don't have time to sit on the phone with Disney for 20 minutes to make these changes, which is where a TA becomes valuable. Glad OP was able to get this sorted out!

Hey everyone,

Quick update. I had my agent call Disney and she took care of the reservation. No change fees and I kept all my fastpasses. Thanks for everyones help. Also, shout out to Joy from Dreams Unlimited foe getting this done for me!

I'm glad you kept on your TA to call and make the change for you as the original info she gave you was incorrect. You can ALWAYS modify a reservation prior to checking in. With packages, you may incur a $50 change fee (if the price goes down), but you will never lose your $200 deposit with a change. She was confusing the cancellation policy with the change policy.

Thanks DW14. Thanks to everyone here for supplying me with the correct info :)
